Apology To Mike!!!!!!!!!

Mike sorry, about the emails you've received from me. My email was hacked and someone send out Viagra, and other sexual type things thru my email address to everyone on my address list. I know you got some as i got emails from your auto generated responses letting me know email's where sent. THOSE WHERE NOT FROM ME sorry!!!! Just wanted to put it out there as we've spoken before and wouldn't want my tech support emails in the future ignored because of this jerk hacking my password.

No worries Lucas- sadly, it actually happens all the time from many "friendly" email addresses - they just get hacked all the time. I usually won't add it to my junk folder unless I get them consistently. Thanks for the heads up, though. :)

It may not be a hack at all.

If you have access to a PC with IIS installed (easy to do) and add the SMTP add-in, it's very easy to spoof emails. I sort do that all the time at work to send automated emails and such from my applications; I specify the "to" address, the "From" address, the subject, the body, and off it goes even if there is no legitimate mailbox for the "from" address I used. Even though it looks fine in your inbox, if you look at the mail headers closely, you will see that it isn't legit. I obviously use this "feature" for good, but spammers don't.

BTW, that's one way spam filters can verify that one email is legit while another is fake even though they appear to come from the same address.

If your emails were truly hacked, you should definitely change your password to something less easily hackable. Although with today's tech, even super strong passwords can be broken in short order if they want in bad enough...

This is exactly what i felt happen and i will tell you why, my email was hacked about 2 months ago with out me having any idea but here is the thing, i haven't used a PC in 6 months, Since i got the ipad2 ive used that all that time, in fact ive started typing extremely fast on it too. The reason im 100% sure it had to be hacked is becuase 1 week after i bought my ipad2 my harddrive in my PC crashed and till this day.........ive never fixed it becuase ive never really felt the need to get back on it since all i do is surf the web, i don't work from a PC so its really not needed. Someone some how hacked in and and figured out my password thru a 3rd party pc and used my address book. i was luck he was not able to change my password as im sure he didn't know what high school i attended. Once i changed the password the email spaming from my account stopped. WHAT A DOUCHE THIS GUY!!!

Mike, Thanks for responding!!

blutooth... easier to hack than most people think...:diablo:

for 90% of the stuff I've seen its just a simple read program and given enough time to copy everything, you have a copy of everything on said device.

*i do not hack, I just took a embedded C prog. class...
