Cheap CRT5 new

I was just looking around various sites to see if there were any boxing day specials I might like and came across this:
Jammin CRT .5X Pro 1/12 Scale Truggy Kit $79.95
Was $489.95

On Nitrohouse.com blowout specials

I hit the buy now to see how much to send to me in Aust and it was over $90 to send so not so cheap for me but could be a good deal for locals.

i came across a similar deal about 6 months ago. i bought a used non-pro version and was looking for a few parts for it when i came across the pro version roller brand new for $100 shipped, including the extended chassis.

people, get in on this deal. i have had a blast running my crt .5 and haven't even used the new one yet. it is very durable and runs great on a castle 1410 motor and 3s. i keep mine geared at 50mph (19t pinion and 4" tires) and the motor stays cool.

as far as converting it goes, i simply used a RC-M motor mount and drilled a single hole in the chassis and used angled aluminum and velcro straps for the battery tray.

I just bought one. I used to have one of these, but I had to sell it. They are so much fun and crazy durable. Do they use mod1 pinions?

scarletboa 01.12.2012 12:12 AM

yes, they use standard mod1 pinion gears.

Cool, thats what I bought. The kit showed up today, can't wait to get it running, my motor mount will be here tomorrow.

I am seriously considering buying one despite the high freight cost.

Any suggestions for upgrades I should buy at the same time?

Thanks

When I was running my old CRT.5 I had the most breakages from the front control arms. I replaced the front upper control arm with a Traxxas turnbuckle camberl inks.

It had the RCM extended chassis and was a lot of run. I also had problems with keeping the front body mounts from breaking with the upgraded Revo shocks.

Good luck, have fun.

I recently built one, it's a blast:

The only upgrade I would recommend: T-bone bumpers, because the thing really flies

I have one of these now, must say was shocked how heavy this little bugger is.

No idea what the top speed is on it running 2350kv XL motor, 24 tooth RCM pinion and on 3s its insane powerful.
Mine has option extended chassis, revo front shocks, 8ight rear shocks RCM e-conversion.
This crazy little thing was doing standing back flips on the snow the other day.

Well, I just bought one from Ofna Racing Warehouse on Ebay as it was the cheapest freight for me. I also have a mount coming from RC Planet and Jato shocks/springs from Liquid RC.
I do not have any electrics yet but will use my Futaba 3PM Tx. I will keep an eye out locally for rx, servo, motor and esc. I would like to use Castle stuff but Hobbywing etc might be cheaper.
Looking forward to getting it.

I considered buying one of these, but wanted the Hyper 10TT more because it was a little larger. It wasn't enough of a jump from my Mini 8ight.

I was going to buy one of these and the RCM Extended chassis conversion kit, but the cost worked out in the Hyper 10TT's favor.
