Help me build the DREAM EMaxx

I got the chassis on the way guys.

http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...lm10700&cat=31

Now, I need your input on what needs to go into this truck.

Here's what I'm thinking. I have a pair of fastlane machine Hybrid bulks. Gonna need some tough gears for this one.

I'm thinking really hard about going with a Castle Mamba XL esc for power handling. Then power it with a pair of 4S 5000mah packs.

This chassis will accept them for some 8S fun!

The spinning toaster shall be a Castle 1717 that I've been saving.

Plans are to use Mod 1 gears for toughness.

I have some purple RPM arms that would be well suited for this truck.

We need some cvd's.

We need some bullet proof shock towers.

I also have a feeling the stock 14mm hexes just won't be enough.

What wheels and tires do we need for the bashing?

Join in here guys. I'll post pictures as things progress.

Your input is appreciated.

If you are up for a little bit of modding ( just a little ), then the LST cvd upgrade would be unbeatable pretty much:

FLM shock towers or UE knuckleheads for towers, kinda hard to beat really.

If you go with the LST cvds, then that opens up a whole range of buggy/truggy 17mm hexes I believe- plenty to choose from there + various offsets.

I like my axial terra-rizer tires & 8 spoke oversized ( 40 series ) rims, kinda like bowties pretty much. You may prefer something more aggressive like Badlands or the new Trencher X things- depends on the terrain and personal taste if there is no shortage of power to spin them

I'd go with UE Knucklehead towers - Beef.

The Traxxas CVD are also very good - Beef.

on 8s and 1717 I'd go 40 series bow-tie or some sort of truggy small lug tire(crimefighter) My 1717 and 6s in my Maxx just is plain uncontrollable with any big lug tire(badland or zombiemaxx)

Upgrade Your Toe Links! CHECK POST #7 #8 AND #9. http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...ht=al+ball+end

The stock ball ends are SOO weak and probabaly broke 20 or so before I upgraded to Ofna Ball ends. Never broken one and the upgrade is very cheap to do...

Those will fix the Emaxx without any mods? :surprised:

You may consider a mono block chassis extension as well.

hey if cen7.7 diffs fit I would go for hpi bp diffs. strongest 1:8 diff i know of

You guys use 7.7 cvds on xxl? Any pics?

I am not so keen on RPM arms up front. The truetracks are great for the rears as long as your suspension isn't raised high enough to let the cvds pop out of the cups. For the front I would prefer FLM arms. I've had both. I run FLM on the front and truetracks in the rear now. RPM arms bend hinge pins in the front sometimes. Good aluminum will keep hinge pins intact much better. I would get the FLM arms for the sole purpose of getting the hinge pin brace to use on whatever arms.

I meant to post this here and not in THIS thread. lol

here you go

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/IMG_0260.jpg

they fit the LST, and LST fir the emaxx so the fit, like everythin it may need alittle work lol

as for diffs either cen or HPI BP diffs would be great, LST diffs are fine, but like any diif if they arent shimmed well they will fail

Should I get the Traxxas Center Diff for this truck?

I know it would improve handling somewhat, but my fear is, unloading huge amounts to the front end.

suicideneil 02.05.2012 07:48 AM

I'd pass- the traxxas CD needs to be filled with cement to stop the front wheels unloading still; next best option is to modify a 1/8 CD to fit instead like MisterCrash did:

starting at post 255.
