Say It Ain't So HPI...
|
I don't think that thing has anything to do with HPI, the seller just put their name in the title to attract viewers; there is nothing about it on the HPI websites...
|
Identical to a redcat xbe

Haven't heard much about HPI's attempt at an electric 1/5 scaler aside from some crude spy fotos and accounts of track sightings. I've got an XBE and indeed it's something HPI should use as a measuring stick if they're really serious about being competitive with a larger vehicle. |
I've seen listings as HPI TRAXXAS LOSI etc. Pretty sure it's just a lure for people looking for 1/5th HPI or the like.

It's sold by the UK distributor for HPI but the car is in fact a Red Cat Rampage, at least that's what the buzz says. HPI Racing UK carry a whole line of Maverick cars: http://www.hpiracing.co.uk/searchresults/maverick/24,1

Those sneaky rascals..
Well say it IS so then. Next we'll all be asking, which came first the Baja or the clone? Hobby Products International: Don't play with my emotions like that. Stop fooling around over there and make an electric 1/5 scale vehicle we can believe in. Somewhere between an XBE and the 5-ive T.. |
I don't have the link handy, but HPI finally showed under hood shots of their electric 4wd 5sc. It's just a stretched Savage Flux (2200kv, MMM and all), with a Baja 5sc body like everyone suspected. Oh and soon you will be able to buy a RTR e-Baja 5b with Castle electronics, at least that's what they were saying at the Nuringburg Toy show.
Edit: would be pretty cool if HPI carried a version of the xbe over here in the US. |
Photos were leaked of the flux 5b, hpi's own electric 5b. It is just a brushless 5b, castle electronics and a good looking battery box.
Hopefully it will bring MMXL and 2028 prices down. edit: link to flux 5b thread and pics on HBF http://www.hpibajaforum.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=122760 |
Found the link I mentioned in my previous post

I would really like to try the gasoline engine out in a 1/8th truggy, seems like a great idea.

Meh.. gas shmass.. I guess it would be cool for the noise makers, but I'll keep pushing electrons around for my pleasures.
