Revo Shocks

Has anyone experimented with the revo shocks. I just picked up a set with green springs to mess around with. The diameter is approximately comparable to the proline powerstrokes. However, it only measures out to 3 1/4 inch in length. This may be a cheaper option for the guys looking "bang for the buck" [performance since you can tune the springs rates from 2.6 - 6.4 lbs/in. I will give everyone an update as soon as I get them on my GMaxx.

Well I got the shocks on and they look very promising. However, the truck does have a little bounce to them. I will have to experiment with softer springs and or heavier shock oil.

I would imagine the travel is somewhat reduced with these shocks as well? I am interested in the results when you get it tuned. Are you running 4 shocks or 8?

rc4x4nut 03.16.2005 08:30 PM

Mike- I am running 4 shocks right now. I dont have any other revo springs as of yet but since the powerstroke shocks were the same diameter as the revos I just used the yellow springs. In doing this I eliminated a significant amount of bounce but it still exists. I am now going to try out a thicker oil once I figure out what the stock oil weight is.

You were also right on the loss of travel with the revo shocks. I think with the right tuning it wont be a problem. We will see soon.

Stock weight oil is 30 weight I think. I would try 50 weight (this is what many run in the revo).

rc4x4nut 03.16.2005 09:49 PM

I will need to go get some 50 wt. I got all but 50 wt...lol

So far I am liking these revo shocks. I dont know but I my just retire my prolines.

RC-Monster Mike 03.16.2005 09:57 PM

Interesting! I can stock the revo upgrade shocks from RDLogics (marketed to maxx owners). Perhaps I will try them myself. Keep us updated on the performance please.

rc4x4nut 03.16.2005 10:02 PM

I will keep you updated on the performance. I have to wait until tomorrow to get some shock oil. My LHS closed at 530...:cry

Mike - any word on the mounts? My base just started an r/c club so I may be able to bring you more business.

RC-Monster Mike 03.16.2005 10:07 PM

The diff mounts? No word yet. I truthfully haven't made it a priority, although I know a few folks are waiting patiently. I will devote some time on this tomorrow.

rc4x4nut 03.16.2005 10:09 PM

Yeah the diff mounts. I may have been thinking faster than I can type again...lol.

rc4x4nut 03.19.2005 02:31 PM

Well I played around with the shock a little more with 50 wt. Its is providing to be a great basher shock set up because its is a little too stiff for racing. I am going to see if I can drill out the piston holes and experiment a little more.

Have you got a picture of these shocks on your maxx?

sounds like a nice plan!
