WOT is too scarey
 

Hey guys. What do I need to do to stop my Muggy from pulling wheelies and shredding the front tires.

I have tried three different diff oil combos and I'm currently running 30/100/30

The set-up is a MMM....CC1518 (1800kv)....4s and 6s lipo. 17T/stock spur

I can ease into the throttle and get the truck up to 80% fine. The second I blip the throttle to 100% the nose goes sky high and the front tires look like frizbee's. It's cool for the first 5 minutes but now I actually want to drive it. I have never seen how fast the truck really is. I don't have this issue with my Hyper 9e.

Is this a punch setting?

One thing to try is changing the settings on mmm..the punch control to 100%. I have that setting with my truggy running 5s. Did you tape the tires? If you did not, that is another reason they balloon. Also...try tweaking the throttle curve a bit.

Self restraint is also hard to master with all the power these trucks generate....just sooo tempting.

On 6s you are going to get the truck to wheelie like it or not...

Ok I will try that. I have 3 set of wheels and tires and unfortunately they were all pre-glued. I may boil a set and see if I can peel them off safely...Then tape them. (I have Gorilla tape waiting)

After years of nitro and brushed motors it's hard not to just MASH IT.:lol:

lighter diff oils will help keep the front down... I run 10/30/5 in my muggy, front end only comes up when I want it to(mostly).

If you run thinner fluid in the center diff you will really have front tire issues if they are not properly taped. I ended up with a mixture of 75k and 100k fluid in the center diff in my muggy, running a neu 1521 1y with 6s. With 50k in the center diff it just unloaded all of thepower to the front wheels and they just spun and ballooned.

After adding thicker fluid and properly taping and balancing the tires all was good. I could get a 3/4 wheely and the truck would still turn well.

it sounds like a tire problem not a wot problem, pick up some good tires, tape and glue them yourself

i run a 1717 on 6s in my muggy and love it, im using badlands on maxamizer beadlocks with no problems

Balancing the tires too, can also help keep them from flying apart

I'm currently running Badlands on yellow Proline dish rims. After one full battery pack they have stress cracks along the edges from stretching.

I will try and remove the tires and tape them. I may just stick with 4s too. It's quick enough.

So far I really like the Muggy. Knock on wood- It has not broken a single part in one year and handles well when all 4 wheels are on the ground.

Try a 15T pinion

I am in the same issue here, too much power....
I liked the thinner diff fluid in the center diff, the nose stays down more. I tried taping tires, but got two of them to get the inside tape tearing, and it's wobbling like crazy now, back to the oven and removing the tires from the wheel, it's a pain to do...
I just hope there are off road belted tires! Duno why no one makes them!
Btw does the muggy have rear adjustment for anti squat? This can help a lot with decreasing wheelies and keeping the nose down. Also try changing the rear spring, it could help also.

I run a puddy locked Center diff, and it helps keep the wheelies under control. It also helps keep the front tires from excessive wear. After taping my badlands, I can say the difference in ballooning is night and day. I used duct tape and the hardly balloon.

I have this issue too. But the main issue is how much the front diff unloads even with ballooning under control. My tires don't expand cause they are taped when I'm running off road.

But sadly the on-road set I have is old, worn out, and was probably never taped. However, the guy who gave them to me did an AWESOME job gluing them lol. They'll never come loose.

I need to just man-up and buy a set of tires for the street.
