Looking to do a 1/5 on-road electric
After a lot of thought, and now that I finally have the means to do so, I have decided to build my first large-scale electric. I've really been enjoying on-road since building my 1/8 GT car, so I've decided to get another on-road for a 1/5 electric.
Right now 1/5 on-road seem pretty few and far between. I'm about to pull the trigger on buying an MCD X4 Rally (Competition version), but before I did I wanted to see if there are any other good options for a large scale on-road? I have looked at the FG Formula 1 cars and they are neat but I would like 4WD and also more of a sedan/touring/GT car like my 1/8. Any other good options out there? |
Fg sports line electric should be out very soon. Nice 1/5 on road , check it out

As far as I know Redcat was the only other with a 1/5 true onroad 4wd besides MCD. Redcat stopped making theirs. But the other "clones" are out there, but the 4wd ones are harder to find than than the 2wd ones. If you got the dough might as well spring for the MCD though, Mike's developing a mount/kit too.
There are quite a few 1/5 4wd buggies out there though. Shaft drive Redcat, nutech, hurrax, belt drive FG's. They can perform pretty well with onroad tires and dropped down. Closest you'll get to an onroad body is a FG Beatle body though. |
FG have both 2WD and 4WD on road cars (Petrol) and are bringing electric conversions out mid this year. Or if you have the cash there is this from rivall

Lauderbacher (SP) makes a 1/5 electric car. http://www.lauterbacher.com/html/e_frameset1.html
I have a 1/5 electric, but don't remember the manufacture of it. I can sell it to you if you want. Don't play with it anymore. If interested PM me and I can send you pics. It is the exact same lenght as the FG 1/5, so I have my FG DTM Mercedes body on it. MCD 530mm bodies fit it too. It is rear wheel drive. |
