Testing a mamba max pro? MMP

So i just received a used mmp from another forum and it doesn't seem to work?

when i plug it into my castle link my castle link gets hot, i tried tested continuity on all 3 legs of the esc wire's and all are fine, he had the switch wires soldered together, tested it soldered and un-soldered.
I finally tested the pcb where the battery connects to and i have input voltage from my battery on the board.

I have tried 2s and 3s batterys, my CC1410 and a tacon motor and still nothing, I beleive i was sold a dud. Is there anything else i should check before i ask for my money back?

It is dead . Sorry, same thing happened to mine . There is a chance the seller didn't even know. When mine went it wasn't even running . I just plugged the battery in and didn't get the normal beeps for cell count .

Oh boy...well the seller used to be quick to respond, now he messaged me back questioning my soldering of my traxxas connecter and that i soldered the correct polarity... after 3 more emails and a pm he hasn't got back to me...looking like a paypal claim now.

Unlikely a pp claim will succeed - he sent you an esc and will claim you bust it.

This is the risk buying used. If you modified it from his setup when he sent it to you, he very well is correct in not taking the blame.

Fortunately, Castle is very customer friendly in regards to repairs and replacements even out of warranty.

All i did when i received it was replaced the heat shrink on the motor wires an add a connecter because he had cut off what ever he had on it. This was his reply this morning

"Well that's a bummer, I'm sorry to hear that. I don't know what you could have done wrong, because it worked when I sent it."

I too bought a used esc ONCE and ONCE only...seller had almost exact comment to me when I questioned the condition of the "like new" esc he sold me.

Lesson...I only buy new electronics/motors.

Many moons ago I sold a used motor to a member here that was no good. When he contacted me and told me it was no good, I offered to buy him a new one..he instead sent it back to the manufacturer and they replaced it for a new one and all worked out in the end for him and he was a class act throughout the whole process. I felt like a schmuck for sure for selling him a bad motor.

The seller got back to me after I had opened a PayPal claim and he wasn't too happy. He said "I made things 10x worse" among other things. I hope it works out, but at this point km not willing to spend $70 out of pocket for a repair that I shouldn't have to do
