Traxxas Mini's and such, ?'s on so forth
Never much paid attention to these things until recently.
Been looking for something fun to tool around on the street at the house with my son (he's almost 6) and also something for the yard. I was thinking of picking up two each of the merv's and mustang/rally cars. Anyone got any feedback experience? They seem relatively cheap for what all you get compared to other mini's out there. I checked them out at the hobby shop the other day and liked the feel and design. I just refuse to pay the hobby shop their asking prices. |
i have a ken block and had a mini revo, the mini revo was great, i miss that truck, i had alot of fun with it, the ken block on the other hand is a different story, it handles very poorly for a drift car and even worse with non drift tires, its very cool looking but its a very frustrating car, even after the essential upgrades its still not good. in the end its a awesome platform as a truck, not so much for a car
here is a video of my buddy mikes with a castle 9000kv on 3s lipo doing some wheelies http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UH9iiOsBYO4 |
Well, maybe something else to goof around in the street with. I wondered if the shortened chassis lay out would make it a crappy car. It seems to be 10th scale width but not length.

Why not lower use the MERV on the street with some street treads?
I had a MERV as well. Very fun lil truck on 2s and crazy on 3s. Stock ESC isn't the best but gets the job done. Would be nice to dial out some punch. Good thing is the lipos are cheap ad charge up pretty darn quick too! |

Diffs don't hold up to 3s for long
|
I just need this to be something to mess with in the back yard. I don't see needing to run 3s for the space.
Also, for the street, I want a more realistic looking street car. Been looking at the sprint2 flux for that part. |
The mini revo has a wheel base of 8in and the 10tt has 11in. So it is not alot bigger but is cheaper and I'm sure tougher as it is based off a 1/8th scale platform.

I love my MERV, I can take it anywhere and pretty much do anything. It needs a couple small RPM upgrades to be able to take a full beat but overall it is pretty durable.
+1 on the diffs not holding up on 3S though! :-P |
I know it's not realistic looking - but I love my mini 8 with tc tires for on-road and parking lot fun!
And the 10tt for back-yard bashing. |
