My case separated today when my sons car hit mine and it pulled 2 of the receiver wires loose from the board. I bought the esc from Mike when they first came out, so obviously I've had it a while, and it's no longer under warranty. My questions are, will Castle fix it, what might it cost, and is it worth fixing? If it's worth it, what's the best way to go about it?

If you got it when they very first came out, that makes it a V1 or a V2.

V1's AND V2's have a lifetime warranty.

But was that warranty including physical damage or just the built in self destruct sequence?

So you are asking if that would be covered under warranty because the built-in self-destruct failed? :rofl: :rofl:

The built in self destruct NEVER fails! It's just a case of when :)

I literally just broke a chair laughing.

But if the ESC is no longer usable because of the wires being pulled off, one could make the argument that the self descruct did fail during the life of the ESC and you would have no means to refute that argument because the ESC can no longer be used in a manner that would enable the self-destruct to function.:lol:

Castle used to repair wires for $15.

If its v1/2 ie green board iirc then it will be replaced for free

Now the auto destruct is the one part of a Castle esc that NEVER fails! And besides thats hooked in through the power wires not the rx wires :rofl:

Thanks for the info. Looking on the Castle website it states warranty is voided by physical damage including crash. I guess I'll have to pay $70 to get it fixed. Still trying to decide if it's worth it. $70 is half of a new one. I can't repair it myself as the wires took small pieces of the circuit board with them. I guess Castle will fail to repair the failure of the auto fail to fail. Lol! I'm a little disappointed. I know the crash isn't Castle's fault, but I think just a couple screws to hold the case together would have prevented the damage. Anyways, thanks again.

If this ESC you're talking about is old enough, they will replace the entire ESC for free. Do you have a pic of the monster?

Are the battery connections bullets on the ESC or is the wire soldered directly to the board?

Like was already said a couple times; If it is truly a V1 or V2, Castle will replace it for free no matter what state it is in; brand spanking new in box, pile of smoking ash, or heavily modified with garden gnomes installed.

The $70 flat out-of-warranty fee is for all other failures after V1/V2.

Ok. I didn't realize that. It is a V2 I think. Green board with bullet connectors. No pictures with me at the moment.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you are putting garden gnomes in your esc's? Lol!
