That is very cool, love how you left part of the body clear and the lighting is awesome.

millzee 05.13.2012 05:20 AM

Thanks mate, it's taken prime real estate in the shed, this one's easy to work on and the drivetrain is stronger than my ride on mower, love it.

Its like a UFO on the ground! UGO! haha.
You could probably pull people over with that thing. Very cool.

snellemin 05.13.2012 10:14 AM

Very cool. That is one bright ride.

jayjay283 05.13.2012 12:01 PM

can you link me to those lights, they are nice and bright, battery or rx ?

millzee 05.13.2012 03:33 PM

they are the waterproof 1meter LED strips from hobbyking, come in red, blue, yellow, green and clear. They can be cut in different lengths and are easy to solder up into a nice display. On the xo-1 I run 2x 3s 2500mAh 3c tx packs parallel and they same pack's still shine bright after about 2.5-3 hours driving. The led's also make changing pack's and working on the car a breeze, leave the light's on and stand the body up against something behind the car and you can see everything you need. I have a couple of yacht's that have around 4 meter's of these led's on them and one runs the zippy 3c tx pack and get's around 1.5 hours from a 2500mAh pack. The other yacht runs a 4s 5000mAh nana tech lipo and this also get's around 2hours sailing and the battery comes back with around 3.6-3.7volt each time, nice and safe. Here's a little video of the led's on the yacht's.

Nice! What yellow paint did you use? I'm wanting to do something similar on my quadcopter. I need a transparent paint that can still be easily seen in daylight, but lit up at night. :intello:

Any paint will become transparent with heaps of LED's inside, I sprayed all the color's and then oversprayed with silver and then black but I left the yellow, red and smoke(tint) only the one coat, you see it during both night and day. I hope to see the quad when your done, good luck.

That's awesome. You've taken it to a whole new level Millzee.

mamba max1 05.19.2012 08:54 AM

Thanks! What you did to your XO-1 is what I'm doing to my quad (in a sense).

Looks great!

millzee 05.19.2012 07:22 PM
