Catastrophic damage. I was looking forward to some good runs from my Mayhem ST on 5s, and I was trying out a new 20t pinion when negotiating a turn in front of a light post, the wheel and shock mount clipped the pole and I broke the wheel completely off the truck. The casualties include the lower arm, the shock on that side, the hinge pin support. Hopefully if all goes well, I will be up and running this weekend.

Never seen a shock break clean like that, impressive hit.

I did something similar with my mbx5T. Hit a Oak tree doing 50mph..tore front right side completely off. Everything was so mangled..I had to replace EVERYTHING on that side of the truggy...even stripped my diff on impact. Bad enough hitting the tree...my buddy finished the job by clipping the tore off parts off of my truck and wrecking his own truck....quite the disaster. Of course we had no cameras or vids with us.
The impact was so violent is was almost worth wrecking...we were laughing so hard we were almost in tears. Small price to pay for fun! |
Funny you mentioned laughing...my kids thought the sound it made when it hit the pole was plain hilarious...all I could feel though was the pain.

I laughed for a short time...then when I actually realized the extent of the damage...no more laughing

Mayhem rolls again...
After being sidelined with a broken shock, lower arm and a few other things and after and exhaustive search in ebay and Google, my truggy basher is back up and running. And I am avoiding all light poles, parking lot bumps, curbs and anything else that could do harm to my ride.

Glad it's back up a running ! |
I was worried my MBX5T would be hard to get parts for once the 6T came out so I did what Bondo suggested and have a crap load of parts for it. Little did I know that I can still get plenty of parts for it . Still its a good idea. I did the same for my ten T as well even though it is still relatively new. It never fails when you break something you always seem to need one small extra part you don't have and it causes you to have to reorder a $5- part and pay shipping all over again.
