question about caps

i bought the castle caps pack, and it works great on my esc. however, the weight of the caps pack would make the wires rub and hit the edge of the holes on the case every time i jumped my buggy. so bad so the power wires got cut off by it.

my question is how far can i keep the caps away from the board before they're no longer effective?

i feel like if i give it some distance from the board it wouldn't cause the power wires to rub so bad.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

They won't suddenly not be effective after X distance, but they do lose effectiveness the further away from the ESC you go. The degree of capacitor effectiveness depends on several factors; distance from the ESC circuits, amount of current flow, and amount of ripple current. So, you can get good results even if the caps are "far" away if you lower the current and/or use batteries with lower IR. Having the cap bank at a less-than-ideal distance is better than no cap bank at all though.
