Another quick 1717 question

Will Castle repair your 1717 for $80 even though they are discontinued?

What all is involved in brushless motor maintenance and how often should I change the bearings? Will quality ceramic bearings make a big difference?

Unfortunately we cannot repair motors, we can only replace them. Since it is a discontinued product, we do not have them in stock so we cannot replace them. The bearings are dual shielded and sealed so they do not require any maintenance; they are called lifetime bearings. Replacing the bearings would require a bearing puller to remove the old bearing and a bearing press to get the new bearing seated. These are some of the best long life bearings available for these motors; ceramic bearings can't handle the sideload that's put on them and will fail easily.

Can they replace the motor with something similar? I am not expecting to have any trouble with my motor since its only pushing an E-Maxx around but, it would be nice to have some kind of peace of mind.

Most of those motors were sold as close outs... with no warranty. That is why they sold cheap.

Thomas- could it not be replaced with the 1717 used in the XO-1? I know the motors have differences but shouldn't be much different.

Close out sale items

When a seller lists an item as a close out sale item this means no replacement under warranty or any condition, period. If you want to replace the motor you have to purchase a new one.

Unfortunately that is an exclusive Traxxas product and we cannot use them for replacement stock.
