Country has a new Ride

Well I know haven't been around much.
I picked up this for a new hobby and sure have been enjoying it.

It is a gasser. It has good power and wife rides with me.
Does anyone else ride?

I used to but had to let the bike go when we needed funds to build our house. I truly miss riding. It was my escape from reality. I owned many different makes over the yrs.. Someday, I would like to get a Gold wing or a Victory.

Have fun a ride safe!

I started riding dirt bikes at 11. When I was 16 I got the chance to ride a buddies cbr 600. When I got off that crotchrocket I was literally shaking from adrenalin. I miss riding so much:yes:

Exactly why I went from a CB 1000 to a Harley. I was going way too fast with my buddies on a regular basis and one day the rear end slid out from under me in a corner and by some miracle I was able to regain control. Parked that bike 30mins later and never rode it again. Bought the Harley the following week. I figured it was a sign to slow down a bit...so I heeded the warning.

I also miss it terribly. I just can't justify getting my own again until my daughter is all grown up.

I used to ride, had a motorcycle since I was 4 years old and either had a 2 wheeler or a 4 wheeler ATV always in my garage. But I sold my last Suzuki SuperMoto 400 a few years ago. My handicapped son pretty much took up most of my time since I had to quit my job to take care of him and I rode that bike to work and back. Loved it too, that bike was soooo much fun.

Maybe someday if he can ever be gone on his own without me going to see him several times a week. But for now you guys are riding for me! I truly love the ride and miss going up to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan off roading. Some of the best times of my life were had on those trails up there. When he was younger and a very small child other people could watch him. But now that he is a grown man we don't have anybody to take care of him so my travels away are pretty much limited.

My favorite ride of all time was my Kawasaki Twin Force 700 VTwin. Man that was a fun machine.

I ride! I also get to ride just about every bike out there! One of the perks of being a Motorcycle Tech. I Now own 3 street bikes, one of which i let my father ride now that I've gotten him back into riding :yipi:. Usually get out 2-3 times a year with the guys in the shop and go for a weekend trip.

But i still have no yet got the Gf on the back...she took one ride 2 years ago for about 10 minutes and was freaked out. we never went over 36 mph!

I am also a very into my motorcycles.....kind of an obsession, actually. I have several bikes, both street and dirt, along with a pair of electric bikes(one has a couple pictures on these forums). In the summer, I rarely take a car to any destination unless I have cargo or expect inclement weather - I ride dirtbikes all winter if weather allows(last year I only missed about 4 or 5 weekends of riding - not much snow).
Cruizer - 2005 Suzuuki S83 Boulevard
Supermoto - 20002 KTM 400 EXC/MXC (street legal, 17" SM wheels, etc.)
Dirt 1 - 2003 KLX300R(dual sport converted so it has a plate)
Dirt2 - 2012 KTM 350 XC-F(also has a plate for trail hopping - this bike kicks serious ass!
Electric - 2004 Electricmoto Blade (74volt Lipo conversion)
Electric2 - 2008 Quantya Strada

All but the two electric bikes are registered and street legal(barely on all but the boulevard). The 400 Ktm SM rarely is further than 15 miles from the house - I live in the hills, so plenty of twisty roads and I generally take it for a 30 minute blast a few times a week during the summer. I also use it to scout dirt riding areas. The Boulevard is the transportation and cruizing machine - has saddle bags and is reasonably comfortable for a few hours worth of riding. The Klx300 was my week-in-week-out dirt bitch for the last few years, but is getting little use since I found a deal on the 350 KTM. Anyone into dirt riding can appreciate the new ktm - it is just an amazing machine. Handles awesome, decent low end power and awesome midrange and high end power and speed(and revs freely and quickly to 13k rpms). The electric bikes are local "posted" trail blazers. If I am not supposed to be there, I take the Quantya usually. I also have a single track trail around the perimeter of my property that I occasionally blast through to blow off steam. The blade may be my favorite(tough call between this and the 350). Light, nimble, quick, amazing torque and handling. I need to find some mtn bike trails to realize its ultimate potential, but it is a really sweet ride.

Great, I am happy to see many other motorcyclist out there.
I have had a dual sport before. It was a XL650 and it went everywhere.
Just ride safe everyone.
Other people don't always look for us. Sometimes I don't think they look.

WheelMan 11.12.2012 10:28 PM

I think its safe to say I ride as well :mdr:

I have to say there's nothing like going out and getting some fresh air on a bike.

Been riding since I was 10, and haven't given it up since. A perfect way to escape reality as coolhandcountry said.

Just wish winter wasn't starting :grrrrrr:

Between bikes and RC, I think I may have a deep rooted problem. I have at least 60 RC vehicles and quite a few bikes - pictures showing some faves. :)
Newest is the ktm 350 XC-f. The bikes in the picture of 4 are from left to right: Quantya Strada(electric), KTM 350XC-F, KTM400(SM trim), and Suzuki S83 Boulevard. Both KTMs and the Suzuki have plates - also have a plated Kawasaki klx300R but it is half apart for some maintenance right now. The Electricmoto blade pictures are posted on the forums somewhere too - yeah...I am pretty sure I have a problem!

brainanator 11.14.2012 03:04 AM

I would love to get a bike or ATV. I grew up riding a lot of BMX. Got to ride an actual dirtbike once (125cc I think), and a couple old bike and an old quad. Loved it all!
Would like to get some more permanent roots down before I start buying big toys though.

coolhandcountry 11.14.2012 06:12 PM

These big boy toys are addicting. :)

CerberusVI 11.15.2012 04:41 AM

Yeah they are! shortly after getting my 1st sport bike I some how now have 3 as well as 3 Dirt bikes! Good thing my dad enjoys riding and doesn't mind throwing a leg over my R1.

Rc's are worse though, i have far to many at the moment
