Best wishes
Best wishes on your big day young man. Another year of survival is something to be proud of in todays world. And still involved with R/C is a treat. SO what did you get for your birthday?

hehey!
Definitely not expecting this.. thanks! Turned 18 yesterday, wasn't too shabby! No real physical present, just some cash (college savings!), but hung out with some good friends, and my brother from West Virginia visited for winter break. Best part? (and I think some of you will like this) I went shooting! At the end of the night, my brothers invited me to the range.. Brother's friends brought some, and also rented two. Clay shooting, my favorite was the Browning Citori 12GA, followed by a semi-auto that was just pure awesome, Remington 870 Pump, and a CZ. All 12Gauges. First time shooting, I LOVE the gunpowder smell, and the kick it gives! Very addictive, can't wait to go again! |
First time shooting?! Glad you had fun. I guess everywhere isn't like MT, I've been around guns and shooting my whole life. You're right, nothing quite like the smell of gunpowder!

My parents are the opposite of gun nuts (they highly dislike it..), but apparently both of my brothers are gun fanatics... secretly. I feel like this will become another expensive hobby. :oh: |
Guns are good
Guns are good in the right setting, and saftey is seriously important and needs to be taght by the right person. I learned how to shoot while I was in the Navy and became an expert shooting the 9mm pistal or M16 auto and carbine rifle. I favor guns, but when you have kids growing up in your home guns take on a different perspective for some people. I grew up where guns were everywhere, and I can tell you that I have seen a lot of kids getting shot for various reasons including petty childish arguments, accidents, and even playful mishaps. I know for sure that if we had a gun in our house over the last five years or so that one of our kids could have and probably would have shot either one of their sibblings or us due to anger issues. Plus when I was about 14 one of my older brothers friends decided one night to kill his parents with a shotgun while they were sleeping because they would not buy him a new car after he totaled the fist one they bought for him. The human mind is just too fickle to take chances when it comes to having deadly weapons in your home. Yea I know lock them up, keep a trigger lock on them, and teach your kids respect for guns. Still too easy for a misunderstanding or misinterpritation to give another person an excuse as to why they needed to shoot someone after they broke into the gun safe or cut the trigger lock off. There is always a way.

Well we certainly don't want to turn this celebratory birthday thread in a gun/morality debate.
Yes they can be expensive, buying a good cleaning kit is probably about the same price as a good RC cleaning kit, lol. But a lot of your money either gets shot out the barrel or shot to pieces when you shoot it. I've only purchased one firearm after moving out on my own. Will probably buy more if/when I move back to an area that better facilitates hunting. Have fun and be safe! |
Wow, Rawbuns can join the army now. Scary...
Hope you had a good one dude!!! |
