An offering for Monster people in the mid-west.

Sometimes RC Cars go hand in hand with real cars. Othertimes not. But if you are the kind of guy who likes to get on track then I figured I'd put this out here for those interested.

Saturday May 4th, and Sunday May 5th, 2013.

The car club I'm part of rents out Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI every year for a weekend. We put on a High Performance Driving Event, aka an Open Track day with instructors. There are a few requirements.
  • Snell 2005 helmets or newer. Passengers allowed, but the helmet rule applies to them too.
  • No Bikes (sorry guys).
  • Convertibles allowed too, factory roll bars are accepted, but you have to pass the "Broom test". Aka, a broom from the top of the wind shield to the Roll Bar/hoop. If your head is above that well you need to find a way to get shorter.

Its not a free event, but Spectating is cheap, and if you want one of the instructors will happily wheel you around the track in their own car at insane speeds. There is also Touring, which is a speed limited no passing event that you can still make your brakes smell a bit with.

If anyone is interested you can find the relevant details here: http://roadamerica.mfba.org.

I leave you with a some video from the track last year.

You have a Tamiya Bearhawk...that was the first hobby grade kit I had. Bought it back in 1993 and retired it a few years ago, after rebuilding it several times. Incredibly fun and insanely fast. Bought a Sand Viper a year or two ago...same model with a few up grades.

Bear hawk was the fist hobby grade rc I ever had. I also have a Richman's Toys serialized Batmobile as well. Sadly it's not in good shape. But one day I may may make an attempt to restore it to stock.
