Shims for flm ultimate hybrid rear bulk
Hey guys I bought the new brushless edition emaxx and have been upgrading it.. I bought the flm ultimate rear bulk and put the 1/8 diff that it cimes with inside the housing and noticed that it has enough play left to right to make the center yoke to not spin, I have read the how tos to shim the diff to get it right but my problem is finding the right shims to buy. I measured the I ne shim it seemed to come with and it had a 15.875 diameter. Anyone know where I can buy shims for this diff to solve the issue? Thanks!!

I used the following to shim both my FLM Hybrid Bulks
https://www.tqrcracing.com/shop/product/sw08.jpg And I got them here. One pack comes with 3 different thicknesses, and they're stainless steel. Worked like a charm I thought. The shim you measured that comes with the bulk goes in one side before the bearing goes in, it helps to shift the diff to one side or the other for pinion mesh. But shims are still needed. Do not put the shim that comes with the bulk inside, it has to go in the bearing seat, towards the outside. Kind of hard to explain. I can get you a picture if you need. -Travis |
Yeh a picture would be awesome this is my first flm bulk and I want to do it right. It came with 0 instructions so i was clueless lol.

ok, so the large diameter shim that came with your bulks, will go in where I've pointed with the red arrow, in front of the bearing...towards the outside of the bulk. If you look closely, you can see part of it showing from the outside (the gear mesh will determine which side you need it on though...so don't just put it on the same side as mine, yours may require that it be on the other side)
http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...6eade6b0-1.jpg The side you install it on will push the bearing in just a tad, as you can see below, but don't worry, this will not hurt anything. 90% of bearing is still seated. http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...2377c545-1.jpg And the shims I showed you up above will slide onto either side of the diff, where I've pointed below. This is where you will fine tune the diffs final placement, side to side, so the gear mesh feels good, and so there is no side to side slop http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...6bdf3b25-1.jpg Sure hope this helps! -Travis |
Thanks man this is exactly what I needed!

No problem!

Hi guys,
Just a stupid question about the fastlane hybrid bulks. I don't understand how to fix the drive cup on the pinion gear. The pignon gear is 5 mm in diameter where the drive cup goes, while the traxxas drive cup have a 6mm internal hole. Do I have to use the small aluminum cylinder inside the kit? how I can fix it? Do I have to buy 5mm drive cup? Thanks a lot and Merry Xmas Marco |
Yep there's 5mm bore drive cups that you need for the pinion.

Thank you Travis!
