Hi RCM members!

I'm not very active on this forum anymore, that's because my interest in RC-cars are mostly lost. However, I'm doing E-bike's now. Thought I would share this build on here... :)

Bergamont Lithium Polymer

This is my second E-Bike. The main points of this bike are: lightweight and durable but still have a good amount of power. I bought this bike specifically for E-conversion, it weighs 14.9kg's stock. The motor that will be used is a brushless Turnigy 80-100 130kV in combination with a Castle Creations 160HV running on 10S2P LiPo. It is a left side driven bike, that means there will be no rear brake.
I'm busy with school (1st year mechanical engineering), so progress goes slow.

Removed the rear brake and added a 39 tooth FSA chainring bolted on a 130mm adapter...

In the meantime, my 2-year old LiPo packs had bad cells, so bought new ones! 8000mAh 5S * 4. These pictures are from the (almost) finished bike. I will be doing testruns, as I've got some minor chain issues.

Again, progress is slow, but I will update it when I've sorted out the chain alignment issues.

Nice conversion man. Looks like your could still install a rear disk brake though. Or is there zero space left?

Very nice! I'm building myself an electric bicycle but it's not going to be any ware near as high powered as yours because of my budget and not being able to machine my own parts. But since i'm using a brushed motor, i'm making my own speed controller from a microprocessor and 300amp IGBT. I really would love to see when you get that thing running!

Yup, a 203mm rotor would be possible. I might buy 2 * 203mm rotors in the future, but will first try only one break.


@A RC Dude: It's so much fun to convert a bicycle to electric! This is my second one and I really love it. What you're doing is even more interesting IMO; building your own speed controller. Awesome! Years ago BrianG once posted a self-made brushed controller on this forum. It's something I still want to do in the future. Good luck with your bike!

haha thanks, once you learn how, a brushed ESC is actually really easy, it's just getting all your ratings and resistor values correct and putting it into a neat package lol

I really wish making a brushless ESC was easier lol that would truly be awesome! But my friend and I actually had the ESC working on some 12v gear motors on a robot chassis but we haven't been able to scale it up far enough yet to run the big clunky motor on the bike yet.

Byte my dutch friend, this bike looks quite fantastic! I LOVE the battey/controller box, looks like a stealth ebike. NICE work.
