Custom mini 8ight mods
Hey guys, I got a mini 8ight about a month ago and thought i'd share the custom mods i've done to it.
First, I stripped everything out a slapped my extra vxl system and batteries from my mini revo in since it should put out a little more power and to sell the other electronics for some extra cash. http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/pict...pictureid=1113 I knew I needed something to cover the gears asap so I stole some excess lexan from my e-maxx body before painting or cutting it. This has now been replaced by half of a Delrin gear cover (split in half mounting so I left the other half off) http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/pict...pictureid=1068 Next, I needed to better battery trey since my batteries were too big for the stock trey. http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/pict...pictureid=1065 http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/pict...pictureid=1066 http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/pict...pictureid=1064 I also needed a lot more room to work with under the body and wanted something that would help protect the body, so I cut and fitted body mounts off of my mini revo (spare parts from replacing the fronts so much) and ordered a thin revo body http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/pict...pictureid=1058 http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/pict...pictureid=1057 http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/pict...pictureid=1061 I knew the wing would get torn up quickly due to wheelies and I hated that their is not rear skid at all so I got a t-bone racing rear bumper, cut it to a decent size, and mounted some cheap wheels I had laying around http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/pict...pictureid=1070 http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/pict...pictureid=1071 |
And then the real fun stuff! haha
Painted and mounted the mini revo body from jconcepts http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/pict...pictureid=1056 Had to cut out part of the back to fit under the wing http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/pict...pictureid=1069 Also cut the wheel well further forward to look like it was actually made for the car. Did this by holding a sharpie on the tire then cutting the sharpie line. http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/pict...pictureid=1063 And tahdah! I also did this the same time as a new body for my e-maxx after it got smashed to pieces at a skate part... http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/pict...pictureid=1085 The skate park also shaved my tires pretty bald. So i've been looking all over for another set of tires that are a decent size and will last. This thing truely has a tire size of it's own... I cannot find anything the right size that will last a decent time on road and have any grip off road. For now i've got some 1/16 slash tires, but as soon as they wear out, I've found some of the smaller 1/10 scale buggy tires should work and only be a hair bigger than stock. http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/pict...pictureid=1072 Thoughts? |
