Centralemaxx RC "Ph@ntom" Maxx Racer!
After a few months in development Centralemaxx RC and its head engineer Gregory Jeanne has come out with a new racing chassis specifically designed to fit the Front and Rear ends of our beloved Maxx trucks. This is designed around the "EMaxx" and will be a electric competition truck to take on your local Truggy class at your track. I am happy to introduce my racing Ph@ntom!
I have been chosen as a test pilot for this new truck. I will be building one with all the goodies of a full blown Maxx Racer! This will be using a host of quality parts from Centralemaxx RC, Unlimited Engineering, Pro Line, Great Assembly, Tekin, Serpent, Mugen, STRC, AE to name a few. LiPo's have not been ordered yet as I want to try something new so I have been searching for a great newer pack to try out. This is the brain child after years of enjoying the Maxx platform but always striving for more performance. Centralemaxx RC figured it was time to build their own platform! With superior knowledge in CAD development Gregory was able to design a superior racing chassis. We are confident it is going to win races!! I present to you the "Ph@ntom"! http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...psb9b49114.jpg http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9aeec41e.jpg Parts being used for this build : Centralemaxx RC Ph@ntom chassis w/ custom Gen IV steering rack attachment. I will be trying some different configurations at different tracks. This will be sent off for Anodizing tomorrow. So I will be updating the thread as progress continues on the build. We are going with a super cool theme for this truck! Pictures coming when it returns home! Parts are used from existing kits on the market so the build is constructed with everything on the market today. I am using Unlimited Engineering parts which are not available at this time but you can use any Front and Rear Maxx bulkhead set up for a truly competitive platform. All parts made by Centralemaxx RC are machined from 7075 aluminum for great strength! Parts that come with the chassis kit and needed parts are on the list below : http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2bec11a5.jpg http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0dbd8132.jpg http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4e6c9958.jpg Here is Gregory's completed testing truck : http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7ca3c673.jpg Track body and first set of wheels and tires to test. http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5a414d5f.jpg http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...psbea6403a.jpg Continued next post ! |

That kit is awesome man, dont let some turd get you down, it might win races it might now, but I tell you one thing she is pretty hardcore looking, I would own one in a second..

I love this chassis and these fellas. It is easy to see the success of this truck and its end goal. ESPECIALLY on this forum. Not just a place where the maxx is upgraded to the hilt, but where everything else is too. LST and 6 wheeled all terran rescue vehicles to name a few.

Joe, can we get an update?

I hope to make it home and pick this truck up so I can work on it.
I have had a abrupt halt to my life this summer and have not been able to do anything RC for a while. I had to give my RC Club away that I started so I would not take the series away from the current crop of racers we have attending the series I started. I gave the club to my current VP so he could continue on. I moved my mother into my home on Memorial day weekend of this year and packed her life into a Ryder moving truck and put it into storage. She was very sick and needed help so I moved her and started taking care of her. Two weeks prior to this my sons new home help care aide quit on me the second day of employment. So this cancelled all of my summer plans even before this happened with my mother because I could not find a new aide. I had a few days in between hospital visits to start this thread and have done all the anodizing prep and now just trying to get a handle on things here at home. I lost my mother just recently after a long battle with cancer this summer and my son started his new year at MSU as a sophomore. We luckily hired a new aide the week before classes were to begin and this meant my son would be able to move back to college instead of me commuting with him daily. I had to travel 3-4 times a week for the first few weeks training this new aide how to care for my son who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy. This new aide turned out to be a two faced un compassionate person. I fired him this past weekend and had to move into my sons apartment with him. Then my wife was involved in a accident this morning with my other two kids bringing them to me so I could take them to a doctors appt. The front end of her brand new Honda CRV is ruined but everyone is fine with no injuries. Nothing has seemed to go right at all this year. Centralemaxx RC has been very patient through all of this with me and it is greatly appreciated. I have some amazing pics to post up and assembly will be starting this coming week. I am now just going to take our time and evaluate each new aide who applies a bit more thoroughly. We had the most qualified aide yet apply for the job and we set up a time for 2pm yesterday, he was a no call / no show. It has been a rough 2013 and I am ready for it to be over. So I am going to grab some gear and build my Ph@ntom here in this tiny apartment......lol If I can find a new aide and now that I no longer have a club to run I hope things will start to transition into a new beginning. I really need some things to go right. :) |
Joe, take care of your family first. All RC stuff can wait, it's only a hobby.
Big thoughts! Fyi, i've sent you this week an extra long dogbone used for ph@ntom+monoblock setup. I've joined also an new kikimax sway bar mount for UE vbs. hope it will enjoy |
Hey wow! I'm sorry for the loss of your mother and I hope she went peacefully. Take care of you family. I think it is awesome that your son is doing his thing!
You have a big family. Take care of them man. Hearing that your wife has been in a wreck, I know that is scary. The way I understand it though the Honda CRV is a good vehicle to have a wreck in. At least that is what I heard about the older ones. Don't sweat over us. -Zack |
Things are finally coming around here at my home. Been gone all fall living with my son at college and we finally found him a new aide. So on with the build! Just got moved back into my house a couple weeks ago and started doing some work on the Ph@ntom.
Glad I got my backup small pit mat for the messy jobs.... http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...ps08184650.jpg Diffs are done! 10-30-7 and lubed with Gorilla Snawt. http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...psb092409d.jpg Center section of the Ph@ntom. http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...psbe40acb5.jpg http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...ps80544b04.jpg F/R braces attached. http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...ps85429665.jpg http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...psafb1ea00.jpg Rear end installed. http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...psed77dec6.jpg Front end installed. http://i1047.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2d44816e.jpg Done for the night.
