Lipo Batteries
Hello,
I'm thinking about getting my frist set of lipo batteries and have a few quesions. Im looking at a pair of 3's 3700 flightpowers, What would be the best rate to charge these at ? and how long is charge time? What LVC is recommended? If not using the batteries for a couple of weeks, what is the best way to store them? Also is it possible to buy two 6's packs wire them to add capacity, but not voltage to increase runtime, or is this not viable. Many Thanks |
It is best to charge lipo at a 1c rating. so 3700 would be at 3.7 amp. Store them with some charge. 1/2 is good.

Charge time at 1C is about 1hr. 15mins for a 100% charge (from a battery with no more capacity left).
Some people here use the LiSaver LVC: http://66.241.195.91/lithium/lithium.asp?path1=lithium There's a company called Dimension Engineering that is currently developing a LVC that will monitor the voltage of the individual cells that should work with 6s Lipo. Storage is best at 3.7-3.8v/cell no-load, which as coolhand pointed out, is about 1/2 capacity. You could buy two 6s packs and wire them in parallel, but it would be best to charge them separately. |
