rebuilding a 5700 two pole motor
 

I have a mm with a 2 pole 5700 geared 15/90 in a 2wd stampede that I run on 2s and 3s. Power is insane, but it likes to get hot.

Would a 4 pole 5700 run cooler?

Is this motor rebuildable as a 4 pole?

Does the 4600 have similar characteristics on 3s?

I love the truck like it is. The thing screams and will pull the tires up all the way to 50 (guesstimated).

I'm not sure you can get the rebuild kits for the 2 pole motors anymore, you would be better off with the short course 3800 4 pole on 3s. motor has alot of power and runs cool.

Does it have enough torque to gear up to speed similar to my 5700 and still pull wheelies at any speed? I'm kindof addicted to that :D

If also considered the 4 pole 4600 and 5700. Is there much difference between the 2 pole and the 4 pole, running hot wise?

I was just wondering if the 4 pole rebuild kit worked on the 2 pole can. I don't know a whole lot about the makeup of these motors.

The CC 2 pole and 4 pole motors are not even close to the same. Just about the only things common between the two is that they are both in a can form factor, both have a rotor shaft, and have wires sticking out.

Could I expect a 4 pole 5700 to run cooler on 3s than the 2 pole, or just find another setup I like?

I just already know I love this truck with the 5700. It hasn't let up yet, though.

My 4 pole 5700 does run a little cooler than my 2 pole but not a huge difference in heat, the big difference is in power and torque. Also the 4 pole 5700 makes my MM ESC run very hot, much more so than the 2 pole does.

Okay, then that's a no go. The ESC is most important to me. These 1/10 motors are getting cheaper these days, but this ESC is too good to blow. Maybe I'll try a 3800 and see if it can be geared to my liking. In the meantime I'll see how much abuse this 5700 can take :)

If you like what you have but fear excess heat, drop a 5v fan onto the motor and power it with a servo lead from the receiver. Cheap insurance. :)

Heatsinks, fans, all already in place haha. I'm gonna try wiring a fan to full battery power. Little fans are cheap!

An aluminum tranny case in that Pede will cool the motor, IMO better than a fan and will last a lot longer. The FLM tranny case in my Rusty dropped motor temps 30º

Adding a cap pack and external BEC will lower temps a lot.

I would get a 4 pole 4600kv or one of the 3800kv SCT motors. The later were really cheap.

Wow! 30°, that would be worth looking into!

I also had no idea an external bec would help cool things down. Not sure if I'm proficient enough with soldering to add a cap, but becs are easy and cheap. I may do both, and if the motor ever does lay down on me try a 4 pole 4600.
