How long is possible

I want a new project. I am thinking of trying to get the most runtime possible out of a brushless. I want fair speed good or great runtime with pretty relible system. I was thinking lipo but don't want the big huge packs like 12000mah. I like to run like 4000 pack or so but will go 8s. I was wondering if a 14 or 16 xl motor or should I stick with a Lcan. I was wondering to if a xl1200 would do the trick.

sounds like a nice plan to me.

I would take the savage with the 3speed and go for about 28-32000 rpm.

I would favour a wanderer L. or a LMT1930. I have got this XL2400 from Daniel, and it is a blast to tell you the truth. On only 12 cells, it's pretty quick of the line. i am going to do some test with 16 cells, on 12 cells it takes 70A in acceleration allready though

the weight of the truck rtr, without batts is 6.6lbs, so that helps it accelerating fast too.. On 6 cells it makes a nice crawler..

I think it would be a good setup for your light maxx your doing.

What is a reasonable speed for you? Around 35mph was nice stock.

Serum 05.29.2006 11:11 AM

He is talking about a durable and reliable system/setup.

I would prefer a savage over an e-maxx.

35mph on a stock maxx? did i missed something? :p

Well the light weight maxx may not be an option. It is being disassembled right now. I will start selling the stuff off. I am not sure what all will be sold off. I am not sure what truck I am goingto build for this yet. It may be my other gmaxx. I am not looking for hi speed. If it runs in the 25 mph bracket I will be happy. I want good power not worried on weight. Though lighter weight makes for more duraible. The savage 3speed would require new build up cause it is getting the 2250. The 2250 is currently mounted and tested on the savage with 3speed. Only 12 cells at the moment. Test esc wouldn't take more. :( that will be changed shortly.

I ran my maxx with 6000 mah 4s li ion for 45 mins farting around the track testing a few weeks ago with an 8XL.

If you use say parallel 4000mah 5s on a 10xl I bet you could run for at least an hour with good power.
I need to get a 10XL I think it is a better selection on motors than a 8XL

coolhandcountry 05.29.2006 01:05 PM

If have a 9xl now. I could buy some 8000 mah packs and runclose to and hour now. If went 12000 mah may get 90 mins. but don't want to spend that much money on batts. Like to run a hi voltage low amp. Have some awesome torque with low heat. I not sure if possible to get what I want and not sure how yet. I am willingto try.

squeeforever 05.29.2006 02:57 PM

Try some 3S2P 8000mah packs on a 10XL. The batteries wouldn't be that expensive.

coolhandcountry 05.29.2006 05:36 PM

If i go with a 3s 2p 8000 mah I would want a 6s 2p total and a higher turn motor. If I get 90 mins or more I am happy. I don't want to be around 40k rpm more like 30 to 35k rpm.I find less heat at that rpm.

Nick 05.29.2006 06:59 PM

An hour and half for a 10XL and 8000mah 6s? Is that realistic? Look forward to results! :)

coolhandcountry 05.29.2006 07:24 PM

An hour is. but the half is another story. I was wondering about like a 12xl or 14 xl.

squeeforever 05.29.2006 08:31 PM

12XL sounds reasonable. Maybe on 8S lipo.

boss 302 05.29.2006 11:05 PM

sounds good to me.

maybe a 16xl on 10s lipo

coolhandcountry 05.31.2006 06:20 PM

Upon examining some motors. Do you all think a lehner basic xl1200 motor will survive and do ok on 6s lipo.

squeeforever 05.31.2006 06:36 PM

I would go with an Wanderer XL motor for added torque, less heat, ect. I have found that my XL motor cogs less than my XL3100.
