Car esc with RPM limiter?
 

Are there any car ESCs that have an adjustable RPM limit?

My theory: I can run a 3s and limit the overall RPM of a motor to ~60% of what the max would be, and it would have the same 'power' until the battery hits lipo cut....

Thus making the car more consistent over a 5-10min race.

Endpoint changes the RPM as the voltage drops.


Ideas?

Not that I know of but you could do the same thing by fitting a bigger 2s pack than you need, if it doesnt deplete fully you will have more volts at the end.

It would lessen the issue, but I'm already running a 6000mah pack...

You can now get 8000 to 10000 2S packs.

Alternatively, choose a motor that has a peak RPM that is about 60% of your current peak RPM. Being lower KV, it will draw less current and give you the same effect. Example: I ran a 8.5 turn 550 motor on 3S instead of a 4.5/5.5 motor on 2S. The motor barely got warm and the rather small 3S pack (3400 mAHr) would only be drained about 50% in a 10 minute race. Now you can get 3S packs with 4300 mAHr capacity that are the same size as the standard 2S packs.

Lower kv rating motor seems like a no-brainer to me; exactly the same effect as lowering the max rpm whilst maintaining the power output ( based on the same size motor, though lower kv version will have more torque so it's win-win ) and reducing current draw & temps.
