Lilpanther's MBX5-T Brushless Conversion

Hey guys, I picked this up because I've always wanted a 1/8 truggy and finally found a roller for a decent price. It got here a few month's ago and had all the nitro stuff except the motor on it so first thing I did was take all that stuff off and start planning on how I want to do the conversion. I ended up using the RcMonster conversion mount for it and a castle 2200 in it with a Hobby King 120a esc. Here are some pictures of it as it as I got it with the nitro stuff removed.

Then I got a Proline Bull Dog body for a MBX6-T and trimmed it up to fit and it is waiting to be masked and painted. I also picked up a Turnigy Heavy Duty 4000mah 4s Li-Po thats rated at 60-120c.

Here is the body trimmed up and fit on the truck.

And the battery I picked up for it.

Yesterday was a pretty good day for the MBX5-T. The RC-Monster motor mount, servo plave, and pinion gear came in and I was able to get the truck all together. I went to my LHS Tuesday to get some paints so I could try to paint the body but they didn't have the colors I needed so I still need to order paint's so I can get the body done but other than that the truck is done for now.

Here is the RC-Monster motor mount.

Here is the servo plate and the 17t RC-Monster pinion.

Just because I was curious I pulled out my Castle 1717 to see if it would fit in the truck with the RC-Monster motor mount and it pretty well does, The rear chassis brace hole needs to be moved over because it hit's the can but other than that the motor would fit. I am not going to run it in this though because my battery tray is only mean for 4s and I don't like running the 1717 on anything other than 6s.

Here is the rest of it, I had too many pictures for one post.

So once I finished playing with mounting the 1717 in there I went ahead and dropped the Castle 2200 in it that I am going to be running. I look's soo much smaller in there.

Here is the general mock-up so I could find where I needed to drill the holes for the battery tray.

And here are a few pictures of the final lay-out with the battery in it.

Well I took it out for a run today and didn't run it long, The BEC in the ESC didn't like trying to power the Solar D772 Servo so I wired up my Castle BEC in the truck tonight, I've never found a ESC with a built in BEC that can power this servo. I tried using it with a Mamba Max Pro in my Wraith one time and the Wraith wouldn't even move.

Here is a little video from today, Please ignore the hideous Charger body, I ordered my paint's last night to paint the Bulldog body and didn't want to run it without the body painted so "I chopped up an old Charger body that I had gotten with a Revo a long time ago.

Looking good! Should be a blast to drive.

I've always ended up using an external BEC on EVERY car since I was using a Mamba Max to power my MBX5T... It seems to make ESC;s much happier!

Thanks. It handles like it's on rails but isn't fast enough for me yet.

The external bec really does make escs happier.

I took it out for a bash session Saturday with my cousin that now owns my old Brushless LST-2 that I have the build thread on here about and got some footage of them both running.

Here is the video.

I finally got my paint's and stopped by harbor freight on my way home yesterday to pick up another airbrush since my other one is messed up. So I got to finally paint the body last night.

Here were the results.

Freshly painted.
