Large Sensored Outrunner in a chainsaw?
Hi Guys. Long time no chat.
I just stumbled across this and had to share. http://www.etotheipiplusone.net/?p=3324 I remember all the talks about outrunner motors and if they could be made sensored. Well Ryobi is using a large sensored outrunner to power chainsaws now. According to this write up it is a 63/54 type sensored outrunner 300kv. This really makes me want to get one, dissect it and start getting creative! :) The sensor board only shows 5 leads? How can this be adapted to run on popular sensored controllers using the 6 pin connector? Is Johnrobholmes still around? LOL Chime in guys. Let me know what you think. |
I think it should work with most ESCs, as far as I know the 6th pin is for a temp sensor. Usually its three wires for the sensor signals and +5v and Gnd to power the sensors.
I have read on the endless sphere forums that there are companies that make sensor boards for popular 63mm outrunners, just forgot the name, but I can look it up when I have time... Depending on how much power you need it might also be worth looking into the VESC open source ESC for that type of application. Edit: Was easier to find than I thought: http://e0designs.com/products/hall-effect-sensor-board/ |
