New V2.02 firmware for X-series controllers!

Castle is proud to release V2.02 firmware for the X-series controllers. Our engineers have made significant changes to the firmware. Many of the changes will drastically improve the functionality in rock crawlers and running sensored motors; but all vehicles and applications will benefit from some of the improvements.

Download Castle Link version 3.72.00 and get your X-series controllers updated as soon as possible. The revamped drag brake, increased throttle steps, smoother sensored motor operation and new Rock Race/Crawler Aux Wire mode are some of the biggest changes/improvements. Please let us know what you think!

Below is the full list of changes on the new firmware...it's quite a list!

Mamba X Series

New Features:
  • Added new 'Auxiliary Wire Mode' 'Rock Race/Crawler Mode'. Allows the user to switch 'Reverse Type' to 'Crawler Reverse' and back to the Castle Link programmed 'Reverse Type' while adjusting drag brake using a third channel on your transmitter. Especially useful for crawler / rock racers. See Castle Link help for more information.
  • Added 'Idle/Error Beep Disable' setting to allow users to disable certain audible error warnings. 'Datalog Full' warning is now disabled by default. See Castle Link help for more information.
  • Added option to enable a sensor lost warning to 'SmartSense' mode.
  • Added 'Motor Temperature Cutoff' to Mamba X and Monster X.
  • Added 'CHEAT' mode to Monster X. (Not intended for 4 pole motors)
  • 'Motor Direction' was added to stick programming as the last setting #6. Option 1 is 'Forward' and option 2 is 'Reverse'.
  • Added new error condition for corrupted settings. Rapid beep with all LEDs blinking. Must be Castle Linked to repair.

Improvements:
  • Improved drag brake feel when transitioning between idle and power. Especially useful for crawler vehicles in both brushless and brushed 'Motor Type' modes.
  • Improved sensored motor start smoothness when drag brake is engaged. Especially useful for crawler vehicles.
  • Increased number of throttle steps for improved throttle smoothness.
  • Reduced minimum power levels. Especially useful for crawler vehicles. Reduced power jump when transitioning from high partial throttle to full throttle.
  • Decreased throttle latency, especially when using high RX frequency radios.
  • Improved sensorless motor start smoothness.
  • Improved motor timing accuracy.
  • Improved 'CHEAT' mode. Should result in an increase in motor torque in ROAR style Stock motor applications.
  • Increased the maximum sensorless electrical RPM to 200,000.

Changes:
  • Replaced 'Max Forward Throttle' setting with 'Max Power' setting which affects both forward throttle and reverse throttle amounts. See Castle Link help for more information.
  • Replaced 'Max Reverse Throttle' setting with 'Reverse Percentage' setting which changes how much reverse throttle is allowed based on 'Max Power' See Castle Link help for more information.
  • Removed 'Brushed High Power' motor type mode. This mode could not supply more power than 'Brushed Reversing' due to current limitations on the negative ESC power wire. Therefore, it posed no advantage over 'Brushed Reversing'.

Bug Fixes
  • Datalog RPM was inaccurate when running in 'Sensored Only' mode.
  • Datalog was not recording properly during idle.
  • Logging did not work when running a brushed motor.
  • Some error codes would not alarm when running a sensored motor in certain motor positions.
  • BEC voltage would reduce during error beeps.
  • Link Live data did not return 0 RPM when motor is stopped.
  • Corrected RX Lost behavior on initial power up (some receivers are slow to respond on power up).
  • Improved Motor Temperature logging accuracy.

The rock racer crawler mode is pretty awesome. Haven't tried it yet but should be perfect for the Bomber.

Love seeing the improvements on the crawler/scaler side of things! Going to have to pick up a combo come early summer. MMP's in all my rigs, so will have to swap one out and keep it as a spare. Can't wait to get a CC motor in there to replace the red one I've got now.

v2.02 firmware

Anyone besides my try this out yet . My results were not good; controller was a lot smoother with previous firmware. Both sensored and sensorless.

Did you change anything else at the same time?

I haven't tried it yet

3905er 04.07.2017 06:27 AM

I did not change anything else tried it again same results switched back to older software .

Hmmm. You should post all your settings and configuration. I am sure Thomas and Patrick would like to know.
