Having trouble with gears
I bout a bk wanderer 12s and i cant find a pinion gear that will work on the 5mm shaft, and have a 48p.
I bought the 2 mod1 pinions, and 31p pinions, before i knew anything about pitch. Is there a 31p pinion i can use on the Associated RC10T2, or a pinon that has 48p, and i can drill out to 5mm bore (I tried this on a regular pinion but there wasnt any thread left for the set screw). Is there anyplace that can make pinons? Is there is how much would it be. If there is no way to make this motor work on this truck, can i return it and gat a feigao 12s? Does the feigao 12s have a 1/8 inch shaft? |
Do you know a person with a lathe? it's not hard to drill out the pinions to 5mm.

There should be a spur that you can use thats 32p. I'm not sure of one off hand but chances are there is one.
|
I have one, and i tribe to do this, but the metal is to thin, and there no thread for the set screw.

The Feigao 12S does have a 1/8" shaft. I didn't realize that the Wanderer 12S was 5mm.

Accually i think the 12s comes in a choice of 5mm or 1/8. I may be wrong on this.

I didnt have a choice when i bought it

If you want to test the motor real bad. I do know a trick that you can use for the testing. If you coat your shaft with some loctite and then slide the pinion on it. LEt it drive 24 hours before you drive it. You need a pinion puller to get it off though. That away you don't have to worrry about missing around with something that is not working for you either. They make spurs down in the 54 range as well. 32P I not sure if it would work for you.

When I used a motor with a 5mm shaft (8L) in my Rustler, I used this spur gear:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXS453&P=7 Obviously, it's discontinued. What's the largest 48p gear that fits? On the Rustler it's pretty much a 90t gear, so larger than probably 60t (32p) gears on the Rustler wouldn't fit. |
If somebody wants, I have pretty much the same thing Metel Man linked except it's made by Traxxas. I have like 6 still in the package that I have no use for.
