Rustler setup - am i on the right track?

Looking at:

warrior 7020
fiegao 380c - 6T

running on between 6 and 9 cells.

Looking for a fast little rustler, I have been running 7 turn motors and its just not enough so hoping this will blow my wig off, fit in ok, use standard pinions? not overload the speedo?

Rene im looking in your direction!

I think it should be fine! But if you havent ordered yet, you could get a Quark 80B controller, those look like nice controllers, or an MGM would be great, too! But if you want a BK, the 7020 will be fine. P.S: If you like to be super safe, a 9920 would always be better!

Candyman2 06.08.2006 08:41 AM

i screwed up, i meant 6T. Im ok with the warrior unless the others are much cheaper, this is just a fun/bashing setup.

coolhandcountry 06.08.2006 08:43 AM

You mean a 540 6t. I have some of the guys like the 380c motors more than the 540 6t.

Candyman2 06.08.2006 08:47 AM

i thought the 380c would be better in the rusty?

Sylvester 06.08.2006 08:49 AM

It would be ok, but not better than a 540 can. It will run alot cooler, for sure!

Candyman2 06.08.2006 08:55 AM

ok, so are we revising to a fiegao 540s 6T? does this have a 1/8th shaft?

I was thinking given the low cell count (6 - 9 cells) the smaller motor would give more speed.

MetalMan 06.08.2006 09:01 AM

I think the 380C is a better choice. The 540 6s is an amp SUCKER.

The Warrior 7020 may not be up to handling the 380C 6t. It's a hot motor. The MGM Compro 80amp or the Quark 80amp should both be capable of handling the motor, and are much more adjustable than the 7020.

Candyman2 06.08.2006 09:05 AM

im trying to keep to a budget really (around $200), how a bout a slightly cooler wind?

So the rustler needs to be punished again!?

Why not take an feigao/wanderer 8S? i like it in my rc10t2.. It runs nice on 7 cells. it has got tons of torque and on 3S lipo, it pretty much reminded me of my mamba 8k in my mini-t.. (but that's 3S lipo)

The small little rotors in the smaller motors spin up pretty fast though (that 380 sized thingies) , My guess is that an 8S would act less nervous

The 6T is too hot imo. I can guarantee you that you'll love the 8.

It runs nice on 6 allready. on 7 it's pretty fast (more than enough for a track) and on 9... well on 9 i can't imagine nothing but fun..

Serum 06.08.2006 09:07 AM

with my e-maxx, the XL2400 draws a peak of 70a, and that's with 3S lipo and on a heavier truck. (the 7020 can handle more than the peak of 70A though)

It uses a 3.2mm shaft (1/8th)

Candyman2 06.08.2006 09:55 AM

ok so im getting warrior 7020 and 8s wanderer, good good

Serum 06.08.2006 10:31 AM

Sounds like a plan to me..

Good thing about the 7020; BK offers an upgrade on them.. (till a 12020 or a15020)

coolhandcountry 06.08.2006 01:57 PM

I thought they offered to upgrade to a 9920 12020

squeeforever 06.08.2006 08:17 PM

They do. Just only up to the 12020 or 15050. Remember, the Wanderer motors all have a 5mm shaft. You might need a Feigao.
