Understanding Feigao...
 

Hi all,

I'm trying to decide on a brushless/controller setup and I'm so lost. I know someone recommended I go with the warrior/feigao setup but there seems to be a lot of options under the label 'feigao' - like 10 different motors with very similiar names...

Can anyone offer some inside and advice as to what to go with? My end goal is to have a truck whose number 1 purpose will be major bashing but I will probably race for fun at the local track as well.

I wouldnt get a feigao if your gonna be running a XL motor, reason being is that it doesnt have the best bearings, get a BK wanderer, it has good bearings, they are identical motors just that BK's have better bearings.

Feigao bearings aren't bad. I still have seen no proof that Wanderers have better bearings (maybe I'm just nieve). I couldn't justify spending $10 more for a color change and "different bearings", but that's just me. My personal preference would be a Feigao 540C motor. It's the same price as the standard Feigao 540 motor, but is black, has a heatsink built into the case (good heat transfer to surrounding air), and has a removable endbell that won't pop off (this also makes bearing maintenance much easier).

Yup, I run a Feigao 10XL and I don't see anything wrong at all with the bearings. I mainly got the Feigao because its purple and matched my truck...

I didnt say the bearings were bad, just that the BK has better ones.:010:

I'm not doubting that, but is there any proof?

Thanks for the great advice, I only have one more question and it shouts 'noob' even more then my last one...

What does the # mean in the 7xl, 8xl, 9xl, etc. Which numbers are used for which functions? (Bashing, racing, etc)

The # is how many turns the motor has and xl means extra long can. It is about 1 inch longer that a stock titan.

Ok maybe I wasn't clear.. I have no idea what the significance of a certain number of turns is.

It tells you how fast the motor spins. The smaller the number in front, the faster the motor spins. The motor you choose depends upon how many cells you want to use, if you value speed over runtime, the tires you use, and the weight of your vehicle.

A couple people (i dont remember who) had bearings go, im not trying to say fiegao is bad, i just want belligerentruth to have a great running system.
