First look at the single speed E-Maxx conversion kit
Here’s a first look at the transmission kit. This is still a prototype. I’m working on some fine tuning for alignment of the gears. Mike should be getting his soon for testing.
The design uses the back half of the stock case and the rear set of gears. The only mod you’ll need to do is cutting the front end off the upper drive shaft (a metal hand saw or dremel takes care of it quite easily). The key to the design is the round coupler piece that sets into the second gear and locks down the drive output shaft. It replaces the inside bearing. All other parts fit from the stock kit. It’s fairly simple and considering all those extra parts you’ll lose off your truck and the rock solid gear meshing this should be a good addition to your race truck. Let me know what you guys think. :) |

looks nice! Whats the estimated mrsp? can i see a pic of the gears included/a cutaway view of the internals of the tranny? Nice work! how much does stock weigh and how much does this weigh?
|
cool george! How much will this cost?
|
Awesome.
When can I get one? |
 I really want one. Does it lock it in 1st or 2nd gear? I could do a comparison when Mike gets done with the center diff.
|
I like this single speed conversion compared to like putting a Differential in the center.
I would rather do this than a differential because there is no point In My Opinion to put diff in the center in a monster truck (kinda defeats the purpose of having a monster Truck IMO). Might as well mod a 1/8 scale buggy if a diff was being use so I think this conversion is great. |
george i want one please. i need to talk to you soon anyway. thanx

do you need a GM frame and the GM motorholder to give the heavy BL motor some stability? (because you loose some stability from the gearbox to the frame?)

More info will be coming soon.
I haven't got the cost from the machine shop yet - it does take a lot of machine time since the cover has so much depth. I'm sending a kit to Mike for testing (hopefully some brushless abuse). It will fit on both the g-maxx and stock chassis. On the stock chassis you would still need to use the 8 screws for the braces and just have nuts over the open holes where the forward section of the case would be. I'm hoping to get testing done on both the g-maxx motor mount and the stock motor mount configurations. |
what material is it made of?
Is the single speed the second gear? or first? |
The lighting is bad in the photo (late night pic) but it is
6061 T6 aluminum alloy - natural finish (same as our other parts) It uses the second gear set. |
thanks, any idea on weight?
|
The cover and coupler weigh less then 1 oz (0.8 oz)
I haven't compared the before and after weight of the tran yet - its on my to do list :D |
