Got my 9918 today..
..anyway..it so pretty..all that nice heat shrink on there..which brings me to my question
How much of the wrapping do I need to cut before I can see the jumpers and what not.? Also does anyone have any diagrams on the the batt wiring..I want to run 2 packs...sorry guys just so excited I need a bit of advice before I screw something up..thanks |
The jumpies are on the side with the input cables!
You donīt have to cut much of the shrink, but every controller looks a bit different. The black shrink is nice indeed, but when you run it, the shrinkwrap will shrink some more, so that the cut-out section for the heatsink will become bigger and rounder. My experience. Just have a look at your batts and wire it so that all cells will be in series. I think thereīs a how-to thread here somewhere. But itīs really straight forward, just use common sense. |

Now that I see it, it make total sense..thanks..I cut away some of the shrink to get to the wrap..the black plug is right behind the power cap..have to lift it out a bid...hope I don't snap the solder.

Thank you fellow canadian...also I was reading the discription about the 9918..
"3Amp.BEC on/off Function" on/off function? :C: Also I'm only going to be using the single steering servo..do I stil need a UBEC? or is 3amps enough? thanks once again ex-novak dude |
You should be alright using the controllers BEC with a single servo. The UBEC will provide slightly higher voltage, but the controller's bec should hold up just fine with a single servo.

Higher voltage will potentially provide more power to your truck, but not your servos. If you have decent steering servo, the controller bec will give you plenty of power. For Aluminum 40 series wheels, there aren't a lot of options. I don't stock any, but can get some from my distributor. The ones there are quite pricey, though($200+ per set)!

Am I supposed to solder my UBEC to the deans plugs of the esc? (red to red and black to black obviously)?
As for the wire that supermaxx4190 has marked "Jumper" can I use the excess wire that I cut off of the ESCs (the 3 wires that lead to motors) for this "Jumper" Quote:

You can connect the motor wires to the controller wires (three blue wires) in any order. Changing the rotation direction is quite simple. When you use the external bec, you should remove the black jumper. To wire the bec, solder the red wire from the bec to the deans on the controller (same place you solder the red controller wire), and the black to the other deans (again, the same place you soldered the black controller wire). Then it should plug into the receiver as you mentioned. make sure you have nice solder joints and you should be in good shape. Let me know if you need any more help.
