Bashing E-maxx - Long
Well,
You guys have really helped my understand a lot about the E-maxx, brushless and what's out there. I'm putting together a list of parts to get over the next 2 or 3 months and I'm sure I made some contradictions, bad choices, glaring omissions and downright newbie mistakes. If anyone could take the time to analyze this list and offer suggestions I would be in your debt. Again - I'm trying to build the ultimite basher here. I might take it out to the track for fun but even the competative races here aren't very competative. So keep that in mind - a lot of the choices (Kong tires, FLM chassis, 8 shocks vs 4 etc) were made with extreme abuse in mind. If things will bash better then what I have please let me know. Also In addition to some bad choices (probably) I've also probably forgotten some key components. If you see anything at all missing can you please add it? I would run a hitec servo 5955. I would put a little smaller tire on it as well. The jumbo non kongs are big enough. I like to run a two speed trans mission for bashing. Some time you get in tighter spots and need a little more gear. I not sure on the amount of batteries you going to run but the 9xl may be a better choice for longer run time. If you not going to the weight saving could put the steel cvds in instead of the titanium. The flm hybird bulks are great as well and could save you a few bucks unless you want the vbs by ue.

I would leave the bumpers stock plastic. So they absorb the crash. Titanium will just hit it like a brick wall.
[x2] Imexx Swamp Kong Tires (pair) [x2] Imexx Jumbo Maxxx Sayville Rims (pair) Arn't those like 8"? I would avoid massive wheel/tyre combos, puts stress on drivetrain and slows truck down. Much better combos out there! ;) |
I agree with the plastic bumpers, i would go RPM's. Also, first gear is awesome for torque and tight spots as coolhand said. Other wise i think your ok. what are you runnin for pinions and spurs? Slipper clutch set up?

Go with all FLM parts. They have the best warranty and if your building a basher it will cost you a lot less to build and a lot less to replace parts. Also I have found that titanium breaks easily ( do not know about the flex-tek arms or skids ) It is cheaper to replace bent steel or aluminum than broke titanium. But if you are looking for weight savings or just like titanium parts then go with titanium. If you like big tires get some pro-line 40 seires beadlocks and 40 seires tires. I know they are not as big as kong's but the moabs are pretty big.

Ok, I would personally go for the FLM or Integy Type 3 or the UE Racer X suspenion instead of Flextec. One of our members is running the Flextecs on a dual brushless truck and hit a curb going WOT and broke one. He was the ONLY person they new of that broke one I believe, but they replaced it for free. The VBS is nice but it depends on what you want. I think the Racer X and VBS is the best combo although the FLM hybrids and Racer X would be almost just as nice.

don't get traxxas trunbuckles getsome carbon fiber ones like this http://www.jdcarbon.com/turnbuckles.html

Ive heard nothing but good things on the jdcarbon stuff!

i wouldn't get integy pivot balls. and i would go for some pl masher tires or mulchers! and scince you haven't said anything about body mounts, best of to stay stock plastic they dont bend. Rpm arms wont disapoint you ither great warrenty 2. and mutch cheaper.
but like squee said integy type 3 suspension. Im really looking forward to see pics in the next 2-3 months! Great list for the most part! |
