That diamond plate sure is a nice touch! Nice truck.
|
nice truck
|
Really nice truck! I love that diamond plate on the lower chassis, looks mint!
|
wow...really nice. I see you have the ultra firm spring set...what oil wt(s) are you using?
|
oil of olay baby
45 in the front 40 in the rear, it keeps the nose just slightly higher than the rear when jumping. I could go 50/45 but my track is rutty and Im afraid it would skip around to much. I have a jump made out of two 4x8 sheets of plywood with barn hindges for adjustment. I repeatedly get 20-25 foot long jumps and haven't blown one yet.

Exactly what I was looking for. I just got the powerstrokes and put 40 wt all around. The springs that come with the shocks are a bit soft so I ordered the ultra firm kit. I haven't run the truck with the shocks yet because I'm having my esc and motor looked at by Mike.
I dropped the truck from about 5 ft up and it doesn't bottom out like my stock shocks so its looking good already. |

The diamond plate you can get from JCWhitney itsin the section with the side moldings and pinstripe stuff. I also used it to extend my body and cover my batteries. If you look close you can see my elastomer rear skid, never had to worry about bent skids. Click the pic to enlarge.

I've been fortunate enough to drive this truck and it is pretty insane. It has convinced me to do a BL conversion on my savage which is coming along kind of slow but it is coming. For a guy who has only been into the hobby for a few months he really built a kick@ss truck.

Nice truck! Interesting idea on the center skid. I've got a question for you...........why round?
|
Dog Ears
I tried making them squared off but the corners caught on the ground and dog eared. Plus the angles keep you from going over the velcro straps which make the guard bulge.
|
OK, I get it now! Thanks.

Packing tape (poor mans carbon fibre)
I also use packing tape on the inside of my bodies. I run it from nose to tale then run a strip from the bottom of the left door across the inside of the roof and down to the bottom of the other door. Making a big plus sign on the inside of the body. I do this twice in each opposing direction and it adds alot of integrity and along with a little shoe goo in the corners it keeps the body from wearing threw and splitting.
I also put a strip of the diamond plate on the bottom of my batteries to keep any pointy stones from puncturing them. |
I use packing tape too :)....
Nice Truck.. I LIKE A LOT.... |
