30 minute run...

Alright guys, so I haven't been on the forum much because it's been so busy for me...BUT I just wanted to share what's been going on with me lately...

I had a bad experience with the MGM 160-24 and ended up shipping my car, controller, and all to Mike to make sure I wasn't completely off my rocker...he ended up fooling around with it and confirmed I wasn't nuts...there really was something seriously wrong with the unit...to make a long story short, he wired up another speed control (Quark) though I was initially reluctant to try it (didn't know much about it)...got it shipped back to me and anxiously waited for our race season to start (I am an avid racer)...well, it kept thermaling out because I had it overgeared. BIG disappointment at first. Then I put a fan on it, thinking it would keep it cool, but no luck...still kept thermaling out. I even drilled holes in the top plastic cover so the fan would have somewhere to push the air...still kept thermaling out. THEN, I went down to a 12 tooth with a 51 pinion (E-revo) and I FINALLY felt some relief b/c I was getting thru my 5 minute qualifyers...but the true test was still waiting b/c I hadn't run a 30-minute main yet w/ the nitro guys...well, yesterday, I went out for a practice, hooked up the timer, got on the track w/ a bunch of truggies and I kid you not, I ran 8000 lipo packs (2 of them)...I ran approximately 32 minutes and still had battery time left...I stopped just to check the temperature on everything. PRETTY amazing! The battery temperature was about 108, the speed control temp about 130, motor-108 (Fahrenheit). It ran SMOOTHLY! Right now, I'm ranked #3 in our point series with the nitro guys, but I'm hoping to change that in the next couple races. I think I've gotten everything properly geared and tested now. Will keep you posted as I can with the race season. Hope some of you might have found this useful and will save you some of the frustration I went through.

That's great you got it figured out! What do the nitro guys think of your beast now? I'll bet they're going to crap their pants when you race them in a main!
