BL Mini LST

Hi, I am looking to start a new project, because I recently discovered that half the fun of this hobby for me was building the projects. After running my 1/8th scale, its almost too big for me. So i may be looking to sell that.

Now, my idea is to take a nice mini lst roller, with the necessary drivetrain upgrades and truggy like look (wing tires etc.) and transplant a Feigao 380C can motor or Lehner Basic motor into and run that off IB4200's. I'm wondering if this idea has any merit to it. I really don't like Mamba and all that because I have to use Lipo or these mini 2200 mah cells. I already have 24 sub-c cells so I don't want more batteries. I am wondering if the drivetrain can handle this though. I'm guessing I'd need at least a new motor mount, but I'm think that its not too complicated of a procedure. The thing I like about the mini idea is that when I have less invested, Its easier to have more fun running the car for me.

This is kind of verging into the 1/18th monster that MIke created using a tc3 and lehner basic, which has been at the back of my mind for a while

errmm stop now springs to mind but i guess id better explain abit more

the drivechain in a mini LST is hard pushed to stand up to the stock motors it takes alot of messing to get them to with stand it upgraded brushed or mcro brushless motors are out of the question for any leangth of time

my mini LST has been in the corner of the room since early may because i had only ever manged to get one battery pack through it without it breaking running a 3 cell lipo and a hyperion 6k motor (its the diff pinions that break)

As far as resonable upgrades go there arnt any some1 called B&S made some locked diffs but aparently they arnt much better Although driven productions have promised there gears are being manufactured as i speak on all three of there machines they havent done much but so far have come up with top products

i would recomend getting a mini LST i like mine and itll be a project cos there are a fair few flaws with stock there are sevral companys promising the problem gears so i would get one but put it off till you now there is some worth while diff upgrades on the market

as for a 380C once the motor, ESC, reciver and servos are in you might find room for 3 sub C cells or make a trailer for them

personally id agree dont touch the mamba motors they are to small for the truck as will most but the mamba ESC is the best around by far i suppose you could use sub C.s but like i said there isnt alot of room a 2000mah 3 cell lipo dose the job fine and fits stock with abit of hacking as for motors there is a fair choice of 380 can micro motors ideal for the truck and the C4 which i think is out soon is a 9200kv 380 can micro motor thats 102120 RPM with a lipo it would push the truck way faster than its controlable at

BUT if you could fit it all in it would be something special :)

Hrmmm, I figured that out once I began a little research. I wonder if the RC18MT or xray 18mt are any better durability drivetrain wise.

I honestly think that the Kyosho Mini Inferno ST is your best bet since its a 1/16 scale for one thing.

The F/R ball diffs are supp0sed t0 be 0ut anytime n0w and sh0uld s0lve the pr0blem.

yea mip diffs are promised soon and like i say driven productions should be here on monday so dont let it put you of compleatly

the mini LST is a more true to scale 1/18 monster truck (not like roxter and 18MT) it dwafs all other 1/18 cars

mini inferno

I have one of the first half eights, got it as soon as it hit the shelf! It's a great mini but as with all mini's durability is an issue. However the new ST's have sealed diffs, whether that helps or not I don't know. Mine has almost every upgrade available and i'd say BL would shred the the plastic drive cups in about .5 seconds. I am working on making some from aluminum though. Bottom line unless you keep alot of spare parts handy I wouldn't do it, but even the full size setups break alot!
