Stobe slipper gearing question

Well guys..I decided to get a strobe slipper, even though I've had good luck with the RR slipper setup. So here is my question...I'm running the following on the RR setup

13tP 32p
66tspur 32P

is this comperable for the strobe setup..
16t mod1
51t mod1 spur?

that's what neweuser said would be a good starting point.....
is this correct....
thanks

A 10 tooth with the strobe will get you about the same ratio as you RR setup

sjcrss 07.05.2006 11:41 AM

that seems awfully low.....are you sure....?
I'm also running Ue 8 spyder diffs
with a lehner 1920/8 motor and a 2095 micro controller...all on 12 cells in series

Well they're different,66/13 =5.07 and 51/16 is 3.18. The 51/16 is a more typical gearing (66/13 is low)but are you running high rpms?

What's the setup,diff ratio,approx. weight,tire size,etc?

BrianG's calculator is usefulhttp://www.scriptasylum.com/rc_speed.html

sjcrss 07.05.2006 11:51 AM

ok...here is a little more info...

1920/8 motor....rpm per volt is 3919
times 12 cells = 14.4v = 56433 for rpm
tires Team Losi Zombie Maxx tires
weight of truck...between 12-13 lbs
does any of this help

Cross postage there,my computer is screwed unless the forum's really slow.

Anyway, the 10 tooth would be right if you're happy with the current gearing.Yes it's low but you're running unusually high rpms so it works out about right speed wise for 12 cells,a little high really for the 12-13lbs.

neweuser 07.05.2006 12:10 PM

Wow, that is low. But he is also running UE diffs, not stock....but knowing the RPM's your running Shayne, speed wise would be around the 10T, but you are gonna have tons of torque! You could bump it up a tad more though....right now your temps are cool so bumping up a tooth or two wouldn't hurt.

If you like and have room to go you can get a 65 tooth spur to fit the strobe slipper then get the 13 tooth pinion to match back up and have a storonger set up.

sjcrss 07.05.2006 02:32 PM

I ordered the 4mm shaft 13t mod1 pinion....and I will see how it does.....the gearing is pretty close to what I was running and on the 32p setup i could of gone as high as 15t....which would of been...
15t/66= 4.4
13t/51=3.92

which is pretty darn close....if I have to I can allways order a 12t or even the 10t....but I don't think I will have a problem now.....we will see.
also thanks for the help guys...much appreciated.

coolhandcountry 07.05.2006 02:38 PM

Did you change the diffs as well with the strobe?

neweuser 07.05.2006 02:39 PM

He runs UE's with a RR Clutch and is getting the strobe....couldn't help but to talk him into the new era of strobe and dump the RR! LOL

sjcrss 07.05.2006 02:51 PM

yup...troy is right I was running UE diffs with the rr slipper, and now I switched over to the strobe slipper...thanks alot troy....lol....but I'm getting my revenge on ya...with the motor.....why do you ask..coolhand...am I missing something?...I've been using brian's calculator.....did I do it right?

coolhandcountry 07.05.2006 02:56 PM

Well if you run the 13 51 strobe set up. It is almost like running 17 66 combo in the 32 pitch.

sjcrss 07.05.2006 03:04 PM

I think I'll be ok.....what do you think.....should I email mike and tell him to switch my order to a 12t pinion?

neweuser 07.05.2006 03:26 PM

Personally, i would email him and get both, that way, if one doesn't work out, you won't need to order another, you'll have it right there!
