1950/8 + 6S or 1940/8 + 5S for Savage?
Hi everyone,
I'm having a hard time making a decision for my purchase. I currently race with an HPI Super RS4 with 1920/8, Schulze 18.97 with 14.4 volts of Gp 3300s. Bloody thing is insane. Absolutely love it. This past Friday I went out and splurged on the Losi LST2 package from Fine Design - http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...RK_125A&cat=21 Should be nuts. Can't wait....Sooooooo, knowing full well I won't be satisfied with my existing Savage 4.6 anymore...I decided to just convert it to brushless one time. Gonna get the Kershaw designs conversion kit and now need motor, controller, lipo and pinion. I do not race much, I just bash with a bunch of friends who are all brushless nuts too. What I want is 50mph + performance with wheelies available at practically any speed. If my drivetrain explodes I couldn't careless. I'll probably actually be happy about it. I'm leaning more towards a 1950 BUT, if a 1940 with 4S or 5S will give me what I want in the above paragraph then why bother with more weight right? All opinions and recommendations are much appreciated. Thanks in advance, G |
I would go for the 1950.

If you want all that 50+ speed and wheelies at any speed.
You may consider a bigger motor. The 2240 may be what you want to look at. Run a 2240 10t on a 8s lipo. |
the 2240 + 8s + appropriate controller is a bit too expensive for me.
will a 1950/8 with 6s not do the boogie just as good considering a 13lb model? sheesh...:040: also, please don't forget to recommend controller and pinion size/range... G |
well, i could not wait for a reply...oh well
well, i could not wait for a reply. i'm ordering 1950/8 with quark 125B and two 3s 8000mah batts from max amps for 6S...
how long would something like this take to charge with my GP Triton charger? i need to do over 50mph or bust...what pinions should i have and would i need a fan? the temperature during the day here in Barbados is usually around 30-33C. |
Welcome to the forum Gbone!
stay away from the maxamps lipo's. You are better of with the flightpowers. Ask Dafni, he can tell you all about maxamps lipo's. to keep a long story short; they don't deliver the energy the flightpowers do and they drop way quicker under the 3V mark. Can you tell us more about the gearing ratio on that lst? and do you drive it in low or in high gearing. My choiche would be either a 2230 or a 1950. 50mph is quite fast, good cells are required. (with the flightpowers, you can't go wrong) |
In a nutshell, I trust Chris Fine with anything brushless. According to him the LST2 does 0-40mph in 3 secs. It's a 2HP system that maxes out around 45mph. Other than what is listed on his website about the truck, I do not know as I only just ordered it on Friday. I will let you guys know more after I put my hands on it. That said, I have already ordered the forward only conversion from horizonhobby. Low and high range is unnecessary with a 2HP brushless system I think.
On to the Savage....I am a bit concerned about 22 series because of increased weight. This is not simply to be a drag racer. I need to have a agility, good jumping ability and so on. I just feel I need 1800 watts or greater to achieve the kind of heart stopping power I want in the savage. Hopefully the 1950/8 is up to the challenge. Where can I get these flightpowers...I am a pitiful guy with a soldering iron...will they install the y harness for series operation for a good customer? |
