I'm new to this forum...and I'm wondering the same thing, your opinions on controllers.
I really liked my Mtroniks Truck, but I smoked it last week. How has the Quark done for you guys? Anyone able to run it hard for like 20-30 minutes without thermals? I was going to get one, but have been told by the guys at Quark to expect a thermal beyond about 10 min with the stuff we run. But that's no worse than the other speedos I have run... MTruck, MGM120, Hacker comp... I haven't run BKs yet. They seem to work great for some of you guys here. |
If funds allow, the MGM or Quark would be the only speed controller I would ever buy. The Quark imparticular. I had a 9920 and smoked it within a couple of weeks, got it replaced for free, and have yet to have a problem out of it yet. They are fragile somewhat. No case, only shrink wrap to protect boards, ect.

Interesting... I'm glad to see some big Quark fans. I was pumped when I first saw the 125b, but have been disappointed in some of the feedback I have seen. And form the comments from the guys at Hacker/Quark about what it can and can't handle.
I think they are trying to be conservative so they don't over-hype it, but basicly they told me it probably won't run for 30 min (racing) in my 1/8 buggy without thermalling. |
Yes, the Quarks do have an issue with thermaling. IMO, I think it's because their heatsink isn't big enough. Just add some 1/8" thick plate with some fins on it and it will be all set. I haven't thermaled mine yet after I did this. I like the Quark in every other way though.
