Favorite Maxx Shocks?

What are your favorite Maxx shocks? I simply can't take the shafts on the MSR5s breaking any more.... RacerX? Big Bores? Powerstrokes?

squeeforever 09.03.2006 10:45 PM

Powerstrokes. Hands down. I think there by far the best if there setup right. Plus they look killer!

sjcrss 09.03.2006 10:51 PM

i prefer the racer x shocks....but that's just me...2nd in line..the powerstrokes then the big bores...

squeeforever 09.03.2006 11:20 PM

Sjcrss, have you used the Powerstrokes?

Alex Berman 09.04.2006 12:33 AM

Looking around the Powerstrokes look to be discontinued - will I be able to use the RacerX shocks on RPM Shock Towers and Arms? (I noticed it said on the UE site that they were very long). That's what I have installed now and I've been very happy with them...

squeeforever 09.04.2006 12:34 AM

I think they will be kinda long for you and you will have to do some modifications. The Powerstrokes can be had pretty easily on ebay.

neweuser 09.04.2006 01:17 AM

Squee is right. Go to ebay and they are all over. I don't think that the length would really be an issue with UE's though, there not THAT long. Just screw the bottom of them further and you can shorten them no prob. But i stillthink power strokes are your best bet and are far better for what your looking for. Big bores? OVER RATED!!!! IMO, they are no different than the stock version besides the body and they are smaller in the body diameter...But the UE's are adjustable, which is a feature i like! LOL :)

I initially asked the same question and went with squee's recommendation of the powerstrokes. I absolutely love them!

squeeforever 09.04.2006 09:08 AM

NewEuser, I have never used the UE, but I believe Darren had to make some moficications to the stock arms for them to work.

giftacrylic 09.04.2006 09:10 AM

Powerstrokes have worked brilliantly for me!

sjcrss 09.04.2006 09:28 AM

squee, I've never used powerline....but have used UE for quite some time now & love them...

Alex Berman 09.04.2006 10:20 AM

Powerstrokes it is! Now I just have to find a pair in good shape... Anyone know what they usually sell for on Ebay?

sjcrss 09.04.2006 10:32 AM

No i don't but just be patient and im sure you can find a set at a good price...

coolhandcountry 09.04.2006 10:50 AM

If you running stock suspension alex. The ofna front buggy shocks are built like ue but are shorter. I got a set of front buggy shocks and the proline by pass shocks on my mgt. I like that set up. Ue is great. Proline bypass are great. You work ofna buggy and proline together they are great. They are much better than big bores.

standard_63 09.04.2006 01:06 PM

For some reason the full set of 8 pieces has been discontinued, but they are available in pairs of shocks and bypass shocks. It used tp be $150 for all 8, but now it's $200? Kind of a rip, but very, very good shock setup for me so far. Parts seem to still be available as well...

Maybe Mike can get a better deal?
