9xl or 10xl???
Ok, i have both of the motors. ran the 9xl on my new 5s system. Pretty darn fast. But would the 10xl be cooler on the run? i think so, but if it's not that much different....then why switch them out? Just curious to have some opinions! thanks guys

it might run cooler, what temps are you getting with the 9xl? you could also try it and tells us what happens.........
|
I'd keep the 9XL. It's got enough torque on 5S and gives good top speed. The 10XL with proper gearing, will be just as fast, with a little more torque, longer runtimes etc...
Try them both and see what suits you :) . It's a personal preference thing kinda. |
Ok. Well the 9xl, yes, it has more top speed. But i'm looking to race very soon. So dependability is most important. I ran the 9xl geared 16/51 and 18/51. 16/51 ran cooler for longer, but almost tooo torquey??? will try the 10xl tomorrow and let you guys know. It's nice though....lovin LIPO!

I'm still trying to understand what "X" (algebra) is when it comes to different motors/gears. I run an 8XL with 20/72 gearing and wanted to know what the difference would be if I ran a 16/51 combo.
|
With 20/72, the gear ratio is 3.60, 16/51 is 3.18...
|
So in theory what would be the difference between the two ratio's?

16/51 more top speed |
i don't have any heat issuses with my brushless LST on 12-18 cells.. 7XL, I changed to 32 Pitch... 66/22 gearing... I have no problems at all... maybe I'll get like 50 degrees celcius max.... I thnk the fan really helps

If it is to fast and to torquey. You could fall back to 4s instead of 5s. It take some speed and torque from you. Even loose a few grams. Could adjust the epa back on radio as well. Make the torque curve a little smoother on quark. May help little.

Still have not tested the 10xl. But i ran the 9xl for 45min straight geared 16/51, no probs! Not as fast as 18/51, but can whip Chitties in tall grass no prob!!! My ma didn't like it too much!
