Center diff for brushless
Hey Guys. I need a truggy diff for a brushless conversion i'm doing.
What center diff would you use and what plastic spur gears fit it? |
The Ultra MBX Ofna diff uses the same spur as a Strobe slipper... That should work nicely...
|
That is the one I use. You can get the koyosho spur for some diffs to. But it is a little smaller. It is easier to mount in some locations though.
|
Another option is a Hyper 7 or Kyosho 1/8 buggy diff for use with the Kyosho plastic spur gears (44t and 46t) that Mike sells. They use the more common 8x16mm bearings, whereas the Ofna MBX diff uses 7x14mm bearings (or something like that). I have a Hyper 8 diff/Kyosho 46t spur in my BL/Lipo 1/8 buggy right now, and it's doing fine so far.

Can you probably gear a truggy with only a 44 or 46 tooth spur?
I always thought truggys use a larger spur then the buggys. would it be bad to run a steel spur? |

If you use a low kv motor it's no problem.
It would be tough to properly gear a 3000+kv motor in a truggy with a 44 or 46 tooth gear, unless you are only wanting to do speed runs. But a 2000kv motor is much better suited to this app imo... not a problem to gear for "normal" or "sane" speeds. |
squee, So the plastic spur will work with the LSP diff?
Glassdoctor, I'll be using it for racing and running lipos. I plan and hope to get 30minutes or more run time out of it. |
So I can go with a Kyosho Diff and use a 44T or 46T pinion.
Or I can get the ofna 51T pinion. If and when they are out, I will be using the truggy diffs that mike sells for the revo. If it was use which diff setup would you go with? I'm trying to get closest to the appropriate gearing as possible. I just came across these spur gears. Do they look like they may fit? http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/produc...033ef57c118a20 |
Btw, the Thunder Tiger ST-1 also has 4.3:1 diffs, and its center diff will accept the plastic Kyosho spurs also.
|
What truggy? Jammin diffs are identical to Kyoshos fyi...
|
That spur is only 48p. That would get destroyed quick like.
|
...A KYOSHO 46t will fit the Hellfire diff with no mods...A hellfire is 4.0:1 stock (52/13)...Fitting the 46t with a 12t pinion will give you 3.8:1 and fitting an 11t will give you 4.2:1; or thereabouts :D
|
What do you guys think of using the center diff from all wheel drive carpet racer rides in a truggy application?
