6cells or 2s ?

Hi !

I'm about to buy some new hot pack's for my mambamax powered rut'y:027:
but i can't decide if i coud buy some 6cell nimh pack's or to go witj some 2s lipo pack's ?

Will i notice a big difference in punch and topspeed if i buy lipo's ?

Lipo will give you more punch than nimh, longer run times too.

Lipo is a good way to go if you have the equipment to keep the pack(s) running in top condition (balancer and LVC). I use a 2s pack in my Tamiya Dark Impact with the Mamba Max 5700 system.

metalman !

Do you use a balancer everytim4e you charge your lipo pack's `and witch lipo's do you use ? o and how long runtime's do you get ?

MetalMan 09.09.2006 12:21 PM

I use a balancer everytime simply because it won't harm the battery packs, and if there is an imbalance the balancer will take care of it.

My 2s packs are a Maxamps 2s 6000mah and a True RC 2s 6400mah. I get roughly 20mins of runtime with both driving on the street.

I say the lipo is better choice as well. Just need a charger and stuff to do it. The lipo 6000 mah by max amp is lighter than 6 cells. Runs a little highter volts to.

Speedy, how about a 4350mah Evo20 2s pack with Hi-Rate V-Balance connector, V-Balance module and a TP1010C charger?
This would make you a very nice setup.

Another vote for LiPo.... I like my Lipos.. even though they're the SH*ty 10C ones... But that's a great deal if the maxamps 6000 an 8000 packs are 15C continuous... but Mike has the 6000 rated for 60 amps continuous, but Maxamps has it rated for 90 amps continuous... which is it..... Go Lipo... Go Brushless.... and Go Go GO....

coolhandcountry 09.10.2006 08:15 AM

I thought maxx amps has them as 60 amp continous and 90 amp burst. Which works for me. I don't thinkg I would run it on the big motor you have. The 2280 may or can draw more than 90 amp.

EDIT:
It seems as if they have changed the ratings on the cells lately. They had a lower c rating. Now they have upped it to a 15C continous. They was as stated above.

aqwut 09.10.2006 09:51 AM

awesome... the 2280 will draw more than 90 amps for sure.... On one of my vids is was drawing 82 Amps and that was only with 12 Cells... So my next video will be an 18 cell at full load... and 24 cell at full load... but I really want to try 8S lipo........ Love the weight/power of lipos..... Go Lipo My Friend
