Neo-One vs Novak 4.5 vs ?
Looking for a brushless setup for my Rc10B4.
|
How about a Mamba Max? Very cheap, programmable, and powerful...

Castle Creations Mamba Max ESC/7700kV Motor Combo
Feigao brushless motor 540 8L 3.5-turn brushless motor NOVAK'S VELOCITI 3.5R MOTOR (490 watts) Some are rated in turns and some in watts, kv, etc. How do I know which motor is the hottest? Right now I would assume the Novak 3.5R. Theses need to be a 540 can also. |
OK, let's step back for a second. What is the weight of the truck without batts? How fast do you want to go? And, how many cells are you going to use?
|
This is going to be for a little car. I don't know the weight. Associated B4 or TC4. Very light. I would like to get minmum 60 maybe 70+ MPH. I was looking at the Mamba and it will handle a 3S. The Novak and LRP I assume would only run on a 2S but I don't know.
|
you might want to try the mamba max 4600 with a 4s lipo(need a UBEC). that will get you to 60 pretty easily. you will have good runtimes too.
and yes novak and lrp can only run a 2s. |
Why would I want the less powerful motor? Runtimes are not a concern. Max power and speed are the only thing that matter. Extreme!!!!! :)

you will also have more torque with the 4600 so you can pull a higher gear. |
Castle Creations Mamba Max ESC/7700kV Motor Combo
Novak GTB/Velociti 3.5R System (490 watts) These look like the best two. The Mamba can take more voltage, but the li-po for the Novak is cheaper. Does anyone know how they compare power and speed wise on a 2S? What about if I run the Mamba on a 3S compared to the Novak on a 2S? |

the 7700 can only run on a 2s like the novak. why is the lipo for the novak more expencive? you have to by a LVC (low voltage cut off) with the novaks to run lipo. go for a mamba max you won't be sorry! it's cheaper, has a better esc, better motor, beter CS, ect............. |
Does the mamba max have a built in Programmable LVC?
Or is it a preset. |
Low Voltage Cutoff.
I don't know if either one has it. |
The Mamba Max has a custom or pre-set LVC (you choose, through the computer software).
The most powerful setup you can get is what cemetery_gates mentioned, that won't kill the motor. 4s Lipo on the 4600 is ballistic, and I can tell you from experience. I run that setup in my highly modified Rustler, and if my radio range were good, I'm sure I'd be seeing 60-65mph. |
Trust us on this, if you want speed, a lower kv motor and a higher cell count will be more powerful. The 4600 on 4S would be my choice as well. If you want speed, forget the Novak... Sensorless is the only way to go. Plus, the Novak doesn't even have a built in LVC like the CC controller. The reason to go with a 4600 is simple...The 4600 will pull less amps then the 7700, will heat up less from less strain, can pull a higher gear, will have more torque (which allows the higher gearing), and a couple others. If you want speed, look at all the other people with those speeds. There running a high voltage setup. Not a high kv. A high voltage setup will be more efficient and will be easier on the batteries, providing more power...
Edit: Damn...You beat me to it, Metalman... |
At least we were saying the same thing, so we don't have to disagree :).
