Toughest MT, for 2280..

What's up..!!?!!

I've decided not to use the 2280 on an E-maxx anymore.... I can't decided which monster truck is the best choice for the 2280... I was thinking of either a savage or an LST/LST2 .... So I need you guyz' help on deciding.... I'm leaning towards the LST since I have a nitro one laying around... But I was thinking maybe a Savage is tougher?... Would there be room to fit this on a savage?.. Are the diffs on the savage and the LST comparable to the 7.5 8 Spyder diffs on my E-maxx in strength?... THanks.. any input will be appreciated and I will make out a check for every reply... thanks.. hahaah j/k

I would put it in a 1/5 FG monster truck and run it on 8s2p.

aqwut 09.18.2006 10:33 AM

I was thinking of that too.... but then I'll have to fork out a grand for that thing...and the parts/arms.. doesn't look too tough.. only 2WD....

HotnCold 09.18.2006 11:18 AM

those fg's are pretty tough -i had one - they take quite a beating - and the 2wd isnt that big of a deal with the weight. They are working on releasing a 4wd conversion for the fg (might even be out by now) - that will be a sight to see....

How about an HPI Baja 5B?

In Germany they have got a 1/5th 4wd.

I would take a savage with a centerdiff to use it in. Ask Mike to make you a special pinion (wider) and use an ofna diff with two spurs mounted behind eachother.

Here is a list of things you need;

Ofna centerdiff (25 on ebay)
UE supersavage CVD's(they include the drivecups with them) (130 dollars)
Hotbodies C8019 cups (10 dollars)
Dynamite/GPM diffhousings (50 dollars)
FLM ext tvp's with centerskid(75 dollars)
and keep the rest dead stock. or use the shocktowers of twisted toyz (60dollars) with UE shocks.. (75)

shimm the diffs properly and you have got a nice machine.

Thanks.... I'll do some more researching... I'm just afraid of gettin' parts for that FG Marder.... It's freakin' huge..... Hey, any of you guys know about the neweramodels 1/6 Savage conversion kit?...

a guy that i know has one and the directions are crap!! he had to bend and modify things to get a rough fit. IMO not worth the $500 or what ever..............

aqwut 09.18.2006 08:17 PM

Thanks man.... I guess it's a good bye to that.... there's some guy selling an FG Marder with front and rear disc brakes for $1500 cdn...is that worth it...

That newera 1/6th conversion is a waste imo.

If you have the lst. I would consider doing a custom chassis to fit a ofna diff.
Get the wide pinion and run two spur gears. You could go with like a carbon
fiber. I not sure how well the diffs are though. You could get the extended flm chassis to fit the motor better in it.

aqwut 09.19.2006 05:24 PM

the diffs are the only thing I'm afraid of... I've had really bad luck with diffs.... Cool.. I didn't know flm had an extended chassis....

coolhandcountry 09.19.2006 07:51 PM

Yeah. FLM has a extended chassis and combo bulks to. They both are a nice addition to the savage. Get some aluminum diff cups to go in them as well. Make it alot stronger.

aqwut 09.20.2006 08:02 AM

Cool... since I have already have a nitro LST, I will use my center diff conversion for it.... and I already ordered the LST2 Diffs complete Aluminum from ebay for $25.... Well.. if the LST doesn't work out... I guess it will be the savage.. and I'll do the same as serum for the diffs....(shims)
