Custom Monster Truck Chassis.. Mike Please Build.. :)
Hi Mike,
Would you have time to build me a Custom Monster Truck Chassis.. or Complete..... Motor: LMT 2280 I have a 18Teeth Mod 1 Pinion on it right now... ESC: MGM 24160 Steering Servo: I would like to use a 1/4 Hitec 805BB Servo, but if the 5955 is a better choice.. I will go for that... Batteries: If possible I would like the chassis to be able to handle 24 Cells... I would like to run 4 x 6Cell SXS packs.... If I have to change .. I will.... Transmission: I have a stock Emaxx Tranny with Supermaxx gears and Steel Idlers... For this chassis, is it possible to use the tranny?.. I have a 28Teeth Mod 1 Spur gear on it right now... but there is no slippage... Would the slipperentials or Differentials be a better choice?... I just want to have different truck.... I have all ACNCM Parts... but I will upgrade to other things Mike.. ANYTHING you recommend I will go for it... Even if I have to get a new monster truck, etc.. etc... Please email me back.. I just want something Unique... Strong... Reliable.. and have some slippage... able to run 24 cells.. and the 2280... It's just too hard trying to build anything with a grinder and a drill press... I heard that the CEN Genesis/Nemesis is also one tough truck.... aqwut@yahoo.com |
How much will you go for? And besides, Mike can reply to you faster via e-mail.
|
Yeah, I've shot him an email... I would really prefer a Special custom maxx chassis instead, since I invested the most money on it.... I don't know how much it's gonna cost.. But if it's reasonable... It's a dones deal, if he's willing... I'm just sick of my ugly conversions...

I believe he'll do you the same chassis he designed for his German customer.
Its a FLM based chassis with 10 slots on each side. Search for the thread named "Madness" to see it. I believe it incorporates a center diff with a motor mount which is beefy enough to handle the 22 series. Its honestly the best thing for you. No doubt about it. |
Yea, I remember that chassis. It was NICE.
|
Yeah, I have a picture of that truck.... that is nice.. I messaged him a while back asking for quarter scale servo mod.... I just can't get away from my quarter scale servos for some reason...
|
I think a chassis like that would do you good. If you going to run 4x6cells packs you could go with a reg flm chassis. Mount 12 under and 12 on top. The trans will fit. Just 1/4 servo won't. You could always design one more like a truggy with the flat bottom.
|
If I had a Maxx, thats what I would do...Hell, I would design one even without a Maxx...I just don't have any dimensions thus making the designing process a little harder....Also, just use a 5955...Lighter, faster, stronger, if not just as strong...

The only thing I don't like about custom chassis's (or would that be "chassi"?) is if it breaks/bends, it's not like you can just hop on over to your LHS and get a new one. I'd imagine it would be kinda pricey to custom machine one at a time too.
BTW: a guy at work has a CEN Genesis and it seems to be broken far more than running. Of course, he runs into things, but it should be a bit more solid IMO. Personally, I think it's simply too heavy for the quality/design of some of the parts. |
I personally think Cen is like the Kia of R/C's...Not very good quality, not very good performance, and not very attractive..
|
Yeah, he got it just because it was the biggest MT at the store. I've seen it run and even with that BB motor, my little 2.5 Revo (at the time was Nitro) could run circles around it. It just seemed sluggish and sloppy. And then when he did get it up to a decent speed, he'd run into things like curbs, dumpsters, etc and it would break something. He claims he's run it at home tons of times, but I haven't been impressed from what I've seen. Just my $0.02 though...
|
I was thinking of that FLM chassis.. but wth the spider design I have no place to make a mount for the motor.... I don't think it's long enough to mount the motor.... I guess I will have to use the hs5955 steering servo... yeah that's true.. if i do break something.. I guess I'd be screwed.... maybe a custom chassis is not the answer.....
|
No, Aqwut. Mike actually built that special FLM chassis for his customer since he wanted to use 40 cells with a 22 series motor. The motor mount you've seen in that picture is actually made exclusively for the 22 series and its very THICK, too.
I dont think you'd be screwed anytime soon, my friend. |
I designed a chassis for the savage front/rear end. that suits that 2280 motor. (designed for the 22 series motor) It uses a centerdiff, but no slipper.
I wanted to have it made by Maxxler, but i don't know if he still has time. I wanted to keep it a silent project though.. (don't want no bomb-proof products style, you know...) |
maXXler's truck is one sick truck I've never seen something like it before.
But, Mike's truck does its work nicely too. Mike's chassis is not as narrow as maXXler's, though. |
