New LIPO Question

My girl has my old 9920. The controller says 99amp. I have been looking at getting her some lipo. But what's the difference between 2s2p vs 2s? They both have 7.4 volts? Also, The lipos' state that they are 60amp or 90 amps constant discharge, and 120amp 10 sec burst? What does this mean? Does the burst mean that a 99amp controller would not be able to handle it? Or do you go by the constant discharge rate? Thanks guys!:007:

New LIPO Question

Not sure if anyone has seen this, so i moved it here.

Here is my question: My girl has my old 9920. Thanks guys!

2s2p Means you have 4 lipo cells in that pack - 2 in series for 7.4v, two in parallel, so twice the mah of a 2s1p.

I'm sure the 9920 is capable of much higher brief bursts than 99 amps. Just the same as under normal running conditions it won't put out 99 amps constant for any real period of time. If you was pulling 99 amps all the time think what your runtime would be.

Its upto the motor any speed controller how many amps are running through your circuit anyway, the fact that the batteries can do 120 bursts doesn't necessarily mean it will. Although undoubtably any system can do that in very short bursts.

90 amp constant discharge batts would be ideal in my opinion. The more amps they can put out, the less the voltage will drop under lesser loads.

thanks man! exaclty what i was looking for! Although, i should have known that! LOL. good to hear, my girl is going LIPO too!

No problem :) Wish I could justify throwing lipo's in my Savage..think i'll wait another year for the prices to come down a bit more though. But so tempting..the electronics could handle 6s..

I hear ya. I finally just said XXXX it, because i got tired of the batts running out of juice! I like the power! If i were you, i would talk to Mike to see what he can do for you man! They are well worth it!

4S2P pack can deliver more power than a 5S1P pack.

you have got the power of 8 cells instead of 5.

You painted the shell of your girls ride pink?

2p is the designation for two cells in parallel (s=series, p=parallel).

The 9920 is rated at 99amps continuous, and a bit more for burst. But just because the batteries are rated at 120amps burst doesn't mean that the motor will be pulling that much current. The ratings on Lipos are what they suggest: A battery that is rated to handle 90amps continuously should be able to handle a sustained load of 90amps without dropping its voltage too low (below 3v/cell) or getting too hot. The burst is the same way, except that a burst is a short, high amp draw.
Just don't base the controller off of the battery you are going to use, you mainly need to factor in the motor you'll be using.

good info here...thanks MMan

that thread merge looks weird! The top looks like what i wrote, but a few lines down, i didn't write all that!!!!

Serum 09.26.2006 06:03 PM

Yeah, please keep it straight. One thread is enough.

No biggie though. if you read the thread you can filter what you need.

neweuser 09.27.2006 09:09 AM

Sorry man! I usually don't do the same thread twice, but i was a little anxious! I'll keep to one! Serum, you are almost at 5,000 posts dude! Do you live here? LOL

Serum 09.27.2006 03:05 PM

Arh.. Realizing that, i must have got an amazing girlfriend, right!? she is wrestling herself thru some girlmore girls episodes and i stay a few hours a day behind my computer being non-productive.......

neweuser 09.27.2006 03:07 PM

Well. I wouldn't say "non-productive", you give great knowledge here!

Serum 09.27.2006 03:11 PM

Yeahyeah.. You can stop kissing now.. LOL

I am anxiously waiting for my g2r chassis to arrive!! i have got the revo front and rear laying here to be mounted.. 5S2P.. Neu 1515.. Delicious... LOL

neweuser 09.27.2006 03:18 PM

Just the front and rear? Hmmmmm, get some cardboard and run the thing already!!!! The Neu on 5s will be awesome! What controller?
The neu will be my last upgrade for my maxx....:( waiting on the slipperential and heatsink to be done. I think the heatsink is finished but, the other is in the works! Not sure if you remember but here's a quick shot off topic...sorry guys... http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...r/P7040589.jpg http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...r/P7040583.jpg
