Neu vs Feigao XL
I hear so many people using these new Neu motors now, but I know not much about them except they're pricey and efficent. So I was wondering if any of you guys had run one and could compare its performance to a XL Feigao? I have a 9XL, was going to order an 8XL, but would like to give these motors a second look before I do, if its going to be more powerful with a Neu, and put less strain on the ESC, I'll pick one up. Looking at around 1900-2000kv loaded ideally.

Rts I just posted a reply on the other forum.
I haven't run an XL so I will leave that to others. I think raw performance isn't the issue as the Feigaos run very well and are bargain priced. But there is no doubt about the quality and efficiency of the Neu. The fact that we are stressing even the best speedos means there is a lot of value in having a good efficienat motor. Think of it as Chevy Camaro vs. BMW M5. Both get the job done but which would you rather have? :D Bottom line for me is that it's been priceless that I can actually race a 30 minute main with no thermal meltdowns. All the $$$ and labor you put into a project like a BL 1/8 is a waste when you can't do with it what it's made for. |
I'll let you know how i like the 2200kv neu against the 2200 kv xl. the neu is superior.
It's a 4 pole (meaning more torque) and it uses a segmented magnet, which makes it more ideal on partial load. and on top of that, they are more efficient. you get what you pay for. as simple as that. Good quality comes with a pricetag. |
I'd love to hear how the two compare when you get the time Serum. 4 pole would be nice to have for sure. These upper end motors are pricey..but I guess thats why they're upper end :)
Glassdoctor, thanks for your response here and on that "other" forum. Sounds like i'd get much better temps, and better runtime using one of these motors..still hard to justify the cost though, I don't take the car to a track much and never plan to race my Savage, at least until they build a track near where I'm moving to, so a hotter running Feigao may be better..my 9XL doesn't run too hot, I wouldn't have thought a jump to an 8XL would make much of a heat difference.. The worst the Mamba could do if a Feigao pushes it harder than a Neu is thermal, right? Hopefully no smoke involved if it can't handle it and I have to buy a Neu. |
Are you planning on using the mamba on 16 cells?
|
Well Mr Palmer himself said it'll do it as long as I don't push the gearing too far, causing it to overheat. With limited warranty in my RC10GT stadium, but no warranty in the Savage.

on what forum was this? he was very reserved to me about it..

Not on this forum, I used the quote tag as I was quoting him from a private message on another forum. We was discussing how well it would fare in my RC10GT conversion - as its heavier than a regular ST, and I run 14 cells in it (can we say overkill lol).

Yeah, i was asking what forum it was on? is there a poster of CC aboard?
|
Was on radio-control-zone forum, Shawn Palmer is a semi-regular poster there. Has his own thread in the vehicle brushless section for Q/A's.

I was told the same thing as Serum about using the mamba max with 12 cells on a 7-9XL in a G2R revo, Not recomended

Are you kidding? The M5 is a VERY sweet ride! The Camaro may have the edge on raw power and price, but the M5 is a whole package deal; looks, handling, and power. 500HP is nothing to scoff at. Of course, if you are counting pennies, then the Camaro has the edge... Personally, I'd go for the M3 as I tend to like smaller vehicles. I like the fact they "feel" lighter. Still has 330HP too. Too bad it's about 50 large. :dft004: |

5s @ full charge (4.2v/cell) = 21v. 16 cells @ full charge (~1.4v/cell) = 22.4v. |
