My brushless Emaxx sidetracks yet again
 

After extended blinking at the emaxx that I was thinking about converting to BL, I have realized I'd be happier if I just built a whole new truck for this project.

That is not the problem.

The problem is that if all goes right, tonight I will have about 5 tmaxx rollers and about half a dozen Smaxx trannys for a song and a dance. I'm going to have enough emaxx parts to open a LHS. :D

My question is, can I build up a 8xl Smaxx? I figure with the brute torque of a 8xl, most of the output is on the rear end anyway. This way I can focus on building the back end really strong, and forget about the front. SOMEONE here has to have a similar setup that blew the front end and they drove it around a bit. How did it handle? Maybe I'll even do a custom tranny since I only have one driveshaft. I figure with this, and the Tmaxx chassis pan, it would be a start to something quite manageable, won't cost a arm and a leg, yet hasn't been done a million times. Maybe even make it a 2wd truggy in the process. Ultra light, super fast, and able to break parts in the blink of an eye.

Also, I'm looking for something else to make brushless. What it is, I dunno yet. Any ideas? I know Squee has a stiffie for the Mini Inferno ST. Maybe a Rc-18 or 10? I just want something kinda cheap, fast as hell, and not super fragile.

A monster truck with that power only 2wd. It would be fun to drive.. wasn't it schumacher who made a so called stunt-truck 2wd?

I think the SMaxx idea would be really good. I ran my maxx rear wheel drive for a while because I busted a diff. Really fun, tends to wheelie easier though, but it was a great laugh :) .

What about a Rusty XL-5?

That would be a fun little one to make hit warp speed 7. Not real expensive either.

I wouldn't go for a 2wd MT. It won't handle to well...I do like the new Rusty though...

If I slam it, lengthen the chassis 4 inches, lower the center of gravity, it would be like a large stadium truck.

If I got REALLY crazy, I'd go 4 wheel steering. I'd have to limit the rear steering to a few degrees or it'd flip over, but it would still be a sight to see.

This may be the project I'll undertake. Make an underdog a performer. Maybe even use the Parma school bus body to really make it a sleeper. :018:

It'd be the worlds ugliest, not suppose to be as fast as it is, should not even be allowed in public truck.

Tons of power in a 2wd truck is really hard to control. I can never punch my E-Jato without the back end trying to pass the front, or simply spinning the tires. It takes lots of compensating steering to keep it straight. Either that or I can't drive. :dft001:

I'm going to convert my rc18t, should be fun and handle well with the 4 wheel drive.

My maxx in 2WD seemed to steer better, didnt push as much at our track. I still take 4WD overall though. Less wheelspin/wheelies.

Well, if you use some gripy rear tires.... you shouldn't have a problem with 2WD.... But I agree, I love the 4WD....

4wd beats 2wd in most occasions.

Why not look into an HPI MT2 or MT2 18SS to convert? I picked new one up on rctech.net a couple of weeks ago for $200 and the motor is on eBay right now at $123 ending tonight. So, I'll have about $70-80 tied up in a brand new 4wd rolling chassis just itching for a BL system. That's a heck of a lot cheaper than any of my 18th scale vehicles after I hopped them up to accept BL power.
